Description of 1969 Chevrolet Nova SS |
I am the 3rd owner of this very rare 1969 Nova SS. This Nova was originally equipped with the L78 396/375hp engine which was blown (thrown rod) in 1973 by the original owner. The car was then traded to a car dealer where they replaced the blown 396 engine with a stock 307 engine. This car was also originally Cortez Silver but was involved in a minor accident to the right rear quarter panel at which time the car was repainted red also by the original owner. The original vinyl top is still on the car and in excellent condition. The 2nd owner who is now 80 years old bought this Nova from the car dealer for his daughter and then drove it himself for a few years. I have contact info for 2nd owner. I have owned this Nova for 4 years and it is exactly how it was when bought from the 2nd owner as it has been stored in my garage and not driven since it drove off the delivery truck. The car runs and drives but brakes will need to be gone through before driving again as brake pedal now goes to floor. This is very rare Nova SS as it still has its original born with Special High Performance CX code Turbo 400 automatic transmission. There were only around 1400 1969 L78 Novas produced with the Special High Performance CX code Turbo 400 which was the only automatic used in the L78 Novas. This transmission was also used in the 1969 COPO Novas among other Supercars. The original born with 12 bolt rear end, power front disc brakes, Harrison radiator with special coded metal id tag, and large singe fuel line with special blue retainers are all still on the car and never removed. The car also has its original spiral shocks and one original T3 headlight. The interior of this Nova is in near mint original condition with the exception of 2 small slits on the drivers seat. Even the carpet is original and excellent. Original working AM radio and clock (intermittent). Car has special factory gauge package all of the original console and dash gauges work as they should including the original 6k redline (L78 only) in dash tach. The body, trim, and glass are all original and in excellent condition with the exception of the right rear lower quarter panel which had some repair work done in the early 1970s as mentioned earlier. Car is equipped with special factory exterior trim package. This Nova is super straight and virtually rust free with the exception of some scale in the original trunk pan (no holes), light surface stuff underneath, a slight bubble at a very small spot under vinyl top next to rear window trim, and a couple tiny bubbles (no holes) on the right front fender next to fender door gap. All floor pans are original and excellent. 4 of the 5 original XT coded wheels are on the car. There is no spare. With the exception of not having its original engine and paint, this is an extremely well preserved 1969 Nova SS L78 car. the mileage is 79,750 which I believe to be original and correct. Unfortunately, I do not have any of the original paper documents with this car but it is possible that a build sheet could be found somewhere on the car. Anyone that really know these cars will not deny that this is a real deal 1969 Nova SS L78 automatic car. I will only accept cash in person or a bank wire transfer for purchase. A $500 deposit (Paypal ok) is due upon close of auction with the balance of purchase price due within 7 days. Please do not bid on car unless you have funds available and ready to purchase. My name is Donnie and I can be reached at 561-876-8038 for any questions regarding this car. |
