Description of 1955 Chevrolet Nomad Bel Air |
This Nomad is truly one of the nicest in California, if not the entire United States. Subtle in its modifications, it stays true to the original design and timeless classic look, but with all the comfort and modern convenience we enjoy in our everyday automobiles. The platform is an Art Morrison Chassis with an independent front end, Wilwood power disc brakes, and of course, power rack and pinion steering. A anti sway bar and fully adjustable coil-over shocks complete the front suspension. The rear has a Ford 9" differential with 3.73:1 ratio, Tru-Trac posi, and adjustable coil-over 4 bar suspension. The rear brakes are also power disc. The build started with a near perfect, rust and damage free body. It was rotisserie restored and painted Midnight Black, before being fitted to the brand new rolling chassis. The paint is about 8 years old, and is show quality, with a couple of blemishes (shown in the photos). The engine is a new (from GM) 350 with Holley Terminator Electronic Fuel Injection. The engine is backed by a professionally built automatic with overdrive, making high speed freeway cruising effortless. The engine, transmission and differential third member were all purchased brand new and installed in 2012 by the present owner. Bills Auto Upholstery in Brea, California did the interior, and it has a distinctive "wow" factor. Seating surfaces are red and black leather. Mercedes carpet is on the floor, and the headliner and door panels are also red and black leather. Under the upholstery is Dynamat sound deadening, resulting in a tastefully luxurious, well insulated, and quiet interior. Air conditioning / heat, satellite stereo with an aux output, and a custom console with cup holders and power window controls rounds out the interior appointments. The Billet Specialties wheels are clear powder coated for ease of maintenance. Tires are BF Goodrich, and wheels and tires were new in 2013. This car has been meticulously maintained by Kugel Komponents since 2012. Every inch of the car has been gone over to ensure a pleasurable and dependable driving experience. This car will hold its own at most any car event or show in the country, and it can be driven there in comfort and with ease. Close to $200,000 has been put into this project, and duplicating it could easily cost over a quarter of a million dollars. Driving this car is truly like driving a new, modern car. The ride quality rivals that of any sport sedan, it has ample power, and it handles and stops unlike any Tri Five Chevy you're likely to have experienced. Previously offered For Sale at the reduced price of $120,000, it is ready for a new owner, and is assured to be a focal point in any collection. Feel confident that this is a professional build with extreme attention to detail, resulting in an incredible 55 Nomad. As you are probably aware, the 55 Nomad has more unique styling features compared to the other body styles offered in the same year of production. Because of this, a strong case can be made that a 1955 Nomad is the most valuable Tri Five of all, giving it excellent long term investment potential. Given that the owner is taking a $100,000 hit on this car, it's not a bad place to put your investment money. This is a No Reserve auction, and local inspection is encouraged, as photos barely capture the quality of this Nomad. It is located in north Orange County, California, in the city of La Habra.
