Description of 1972 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport

Up for auction is my extremely rare 1972 Camaro SS 396. With an auto worker's strike during the production year and the insurance industry and U.S. Government rapidly bringing the muscle car era to an abrupt end, only 970 of these cars were ever built. Having been a collector in the market for some time now I have seen very few of these cars which are matching numbers and in such original condition. I purchased this vehicle from a classic car dealer in St. Louis approximately 9 years ago. At the time of the purchase I was told that I am the second private owner of the car.
Upon inspection it becomes clear that this car has been well cared for its entire life. Currently it is being kept in a climate controlled facility. The car has had a single, very high quality repaint once in its life. There is no rust on the car and it even retains its original red oxide primer on the undercarriage.
The car has its original 396 big block generating 240 hp matched to its original Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed transmission. The car starts right up, idles smoothly with no issues. With 49,xxx original miles the car is tight and handles extremely well. The second generation Camaros were certainly some of the finest handling cars of their time period.
The interior of the car is extremely nice and is original except for the dash pad which was professionally replaced and is a common need in these cars. The car has excellent glass. The door panels need to be redyed if someone wants to take the car to the next level. It does have a period correct after market radio with cassette player.
To top things off this car comes with amazing paperwork which is extremely important when it comes to the historical preservation of this rare American muscle car. One can only guess how many of these are left in such well preserved condition with their original power train........This car truly is a needle in a haystack.
