Description of 1968 Chevrolet Corvette

1968 Corvette Coupe T-Tops

427 400 hp Tri-Power

4 Speed, Power Steering

Nice collector car projects are getting very hard to find. The 427 tri power C-2 vette is a unique car. The multi-carb production started in 1967 and ended in 1969. Making these cars limited and valuable.

The 1967 Corvette tri power has on of the best resale values. The value of these cars has brought out the people that fordge them, thus working against the market forces. Cloning is thenumber one problem. There are more '67 tri-power vettes today than were built in 1967. The second big concern is documentation. With re-broaching, re-stamping blocks, counterfieting pro-tect-o plates makes it very difficult to get a hold of the real deal tri-power cars. You need, documentation, documentation, and documentation when purchasing a '67 vette.

With that said. The 1968 and 1969 C-3, Tri Power vettes are gaining interest and strength in the corvette world. Any C-3with documentation and/or numbers matching power trains is still tough. Like all muscle cars, the 427's were driven hard and put away wet. To have something that is complete and legitimate is a "special car”.

The car I am offering has the numbers matching engine, transmission, rear end, intake and carburators. There are pictures of the block vin and transmission vin provided in the gallery. The correct intake is mounted on the engine the three carburetors are included. Pictures of the carburator numbers are in the gallery for your verification. The front carb and middle carb look to be untouched. The back carb looks as if someone had opened it up.

Viewing the cylinder head pictures, you can see the casting numbers. The appearance under the valve covers look very clean. This corvette came from an estate. The car was in the process of being prepped for paint. The owner pulled engine and transmission for the restoration. When I purchased the car, it was stated that the corvette was a running and driving car.

The bird cage is in very nice shape. I took pictures of the back inside corners of the door opening. Many times you can see apparent rust at these points. That would indicate the birdcage in the rocker area is rusty. Take a look at the pictures along with pictures of the underside. This car will clean up nice and solid.

The condition of the body is easily seen by the pictures. The bonding strips are beautiful on the front end. There are no stress cracks and no bubbling from the underside frame. The doors and front clip align extremely well.

The back end of the car was tapped. Some place along the line, a new tail panel was installed. There are several pictures of the tail section. Overall, the worklooks good, but there are a few spots that need some TLC.Depending on your level of perfection would dictate how you would address the repair. Personally,I wouldn't take the quarters off, I think you could use some gel coat and matt to fix the imperfections. There is also a small crack in the floor board behind the pedal. This crack could be easily repaired without any major panel work.

I took an inventory of missing parts and I can see that it is missing the 4 original rims, the cowl grate, emblems and exhaust manifolds and the back filler panel. This is a reliable assesment to point out the obvious. Therer may be more smaller items missing.

With the engine out, I believe it would be difficult to find transport. Please investigate this before bidding. I can offer assistance loading. If you need the engine transmission reinstalled into the car for transport, I could bolt it in there for $150.If you need time to drive in to pick it up, that could be arranged. I do have outside storage. I undersand it takes time to get organized and will work with the winning bidder.

I do have a clear title for the corvette.

Please bid to buy. I have had problems with non paying bidders. I require a non-refundable $200 deposit from the winning bidder with in 24 hours of the completion of the auction. Please call with any questions you may have. I live in the central time zone. (Mpls)

Thanks for the interest.
