With a magnetic color gracing its curved form and a strong, capable drivetrain standing ready, this 1968 Chevrolet C10 Stepside is a rare find that's as much fun to take out on the road as it is to just sit back and admire while at a standstill. With their relatively short beds, C10 Stepsides of this era have a great, beefy look - like they're capable of handling anything you throw their way. This one is clad in a candy apple red metallic paint that looks absolutely killer - it's a deep shade that needs no striping or other ornamentation for visual impact. You'll find no badging or trim on its sides, so the color is really allowed to take center stage - and it's very much up to the task with its even, liquidy shine that follows you around as you survey this venerable truck. The chrome that is on display - on the front and rear bumpers, front grille, light casings and mirrors - is all in very nice shape. Those other exterior details that really give a vintage ride a finished appearance have been looked after, so you'll find this truck well-aligned and sporting clear glass surrounded by fresh seals on all four sides. Some skillfully performed modification has transformed the tailgate, leaving it with a clean, smooth surface and bracketed by a pair of dual-lensed taillights to provide a great aftermarket look. There's a really nice interior sitting inside the doors, featuring a gray cloth bench seat that's very well-padded and comfortable and even features a fold-down armrest that really comes in handy during longer journeys. When you look just beyond the stock Chevy steering wheel, you can't help but admire the dash area. It retains its original configuration and yet looks very fresh, with clear gauges sitting inside the textured, contrasting boundaries of the instrument cluster, and a straight, crack-free dash pad situated just above. An AM/FM/CD player sits in the center to provide your tunes while on the road, and the air conditioning system is in good form, blowing strong and cold to keep you and your passenger comfortable. The bed area in back has obviously seen a lot of attention, as its ramrod straight walls shine and show no observable dings from shifting cargo, and its floor is lined with very well-prepped wood interspersed with clean stainless steel ribbing. Just underneath the broad hood, there's a 454-cubic inch V8 sitting in a very orderly engine bay. It carries a great looking set of aftermarket Chevrolet valve covers and a chrome alternator to enhance its appearance, as well as a Holley 4-barrel carb and Edelbrock intake to up its performance. The big block starts right up and pulls strong, sounding out a nice deep note through its shorty headers as it does so. It pairs up with a 700r4 automatic transmission that provides a nice combination of low gearing for good off the line acceleration and overdrive to keep RPMs down on the highway, and underscoring the notion that this C10 is a great driving truck suitable for any kind of driving conditions it may encounter. Power brakes at all four corners - with discs up front - give it low-effort stopping power, while smooth power steering makes it easy to navigate. This great looking modded classic sits on a set of 17" Rev wheels carrying Toyo tires. It's not all that often that we encounter a vintage truck whose sharp appearance is matched by an equally strong level of roadworthiness, but that's just what we have here in this 1968 Chevrolet C10 Stepside.
