Description of 1970 Chevrolet Nova

Chevy's all-new Nova hit the streets in 1968 and despite its mission as a modestly-sized, affordable car, the engineers at GM made sure that big horsepower would fit comfortably under the hood. Because of this, cars like this 1970 Chevrolet Nova make for some very impressive street machines, with this one offering a strong-running 350 and a 4-speed manual gearbox in a lightweight 2-door sedan body shell. And as you can imagine, performance is entertaining to say the least.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, let's have a look at this handsome black coupe. The finish is fairly recent and is in decent shape, but not so perfect that you're afraid to use this car as intended. A GM SS hood with chrome inserts and the requisite SS badges give it that street swagger that practically defines the era. They wisely skipped any kind of stripes or decorative add-ons, so this one is stealthy and stays under the radar until it's too late. The whole car fits together rather well with doors that close easily, a hood that fits flush, and just a bit of rake to accentuate the Nova's semi-fastback profile. Always a favorite of Chevy fans, the clean horizontal grille is a very attractive design that seems to wrap around the headlights, and while it's probably original, it's in very good shape. Chrome bumpers, a bit of polished stainless, and original-style Nova badges result in one clean-looking chunk of muscle.
You can tell the interior was built for combat, however, as it's as no-frills as things get. There's a bench seat, factory gauges and steering wheel, and a big Hurst 4-speed shifter on the transmission tunnel. No heavy buckets, no add-on gauges that give it away, nothing to slow it down or get in the way of having fun. Factory gauges fill the stock dashboard, and they're joined by an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the original radio-s spot. Nice door panels and newer carpets are probably accurate reproductions that give it a factory look. The only real concession to comfort is an aftermarket A/C system that was invisibly integrated with the factory controls. The trunk is surprisingly spacious and is outfitted with a proper mat and no signs of problems
While the engine bay isn't all covered in chrome, the 350 cubic inch V8 is a great runner and moves the lightweight Nova without effort. It was recently rebuilt with an .040 overbore, a good-sized cam, double-hump heads, and an Edelbrock intake and carburetor, so this car sounds menacing at idle, that's for sure! To help with keeping it cool with the A/C blowing, there's a big aluminum radiator up front and a full Mickey Thompson dress-up kit gives it a vintage performance look. Long-tube headers and twin Flowmaster mufflers offer a very impressive exhaust note, especially with that big cam in the engine, and the Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission is probably overkill for even a hot small block. The 10-bolt rear end is sturdy enough for street duty in the relatively lightweight Nova and take a look at how clean the floors are! A slightly raked stance comes complements of factory SS wheels and BFGoodrich T/A radials.
Nicely built, attractive, and impressively fast, this Nova offers everything you'd want in a vintage muscle car. Call today!
