Description of 1967 Chevrolet Corvette |
1967 Corvette coupe. This car is an original, never wrecked or repaired, matching number L-79 327-350, Muncie 4 speed, AM-FM, all tinted glass, PS, PB, PW, 3.70 posi-trac. It was delivered to Harry Mann Chevrolet in Los Angeles in April 1967 as verified by the NCRS shipping report. The car has spent its entire life in California, Texas, Louisiana and I brought it to KY in 2006. I enjoyed the car with all it's matching number drive train for a couple of years and in 2008 I converted it to an L-88 tribute.
Body - Never damaged or repaired; Frame on restoration in 2002-2003, color changed from Marlboro Maroon to Tuxedo Black. Car is black basecoat with a clear coat. Hood stripe is silver pearl to accent the aluminum engine look when the hood is opened.
Frame - ABSOLUTELY MINT, NO damage or rust, just as you would expect a California car. Original ball joints are still intact and do not need replacing. All stock suspension, original 3.70 posi-trac rear.
Interior - black vinyl, MINT original door panels, NOS no radio dash was installed using the MINT original dash pads; original dash frame and AM-FM radio are included with the car; Al Knoch added head rests to the seats in 2008; new carpet in 2013; interior is perfect.
Engine - 427 ZL-1 aluminum engine, EVERY piece is new GM (12370850 aluminum ZL-1 bare block, NOS 6223 forged steel crankshaft, 8922 dimple rods with 7/16 bolts, TRW 10:1 forged pistons, GM 12363392 oval port aluminum heads, GM 12363406 oval port aluminum intake. This is essentially the same as the Anniversary 427 ZL-1 engine. The only parts NOT NOS GM are the front timing chain cover and the hydraulic roller camshaft which is a custom grind by Straub Technologies. Stainless steel roller rocker arms and Morrell hydraulic roller lifters were used in the build and the engine has less than 500 miles on it and I GUARANTEE it has never been over 5000 RPM. The original L-79 engine is included with the car.
Transmission - NEW wide ratio M-22 transmission built by Ed Hartnett in PA using ALL new Italian Masiero gears, 2.52 first gear, in a MINT 67 Muncie case. Car has a Hurst competition plus shifter with a specially modified short shifter handle. This transmission has fewer than 300 miles on it because when I converted the car to an L-88 I installed a Richmond 5 speed and later replaced it with the M-22. The original serial numbered close ratio Muncie 4 speed and shifter are included with the car. Rear end - Original 3.70 posi-trac rear is still in the car. Special L-88 parts - REAL L-88 hood with cold air plenum; REAL J-56 brakes with and dual pin calipers; L-88 road draft tube installed in driver side valve cover; NEW reproduction DeWitt's L-88 radiator, correctly stamped and dated; REAL N-03 36 gallon tank, correctly installed by a professional who has restored tanker cars; NOS no radio dash and reproduction heater delete plates; BEAUTIFUL reproduction stainless steel headers that GM contracted Bill Thomas to make for the first L-88s, these headers are made using an original set as a guide so they are spot on (four of the twenty original 1967 L-88 Corvettes now have my reproduction headers and side pipes); REAL MAGNESIUM wheels, 15x6 American Racing Torque Thrust D wheels with new reproduction Firestone 920-15 race tires.
I built this car as accurately as possible and did not cut any corners or damage any original parts during the build. ALL the ORIGINAL matching number parts (engine, transmission, dated radiator, alternator, radiator support, brakes, dash, gas tank, complete heater assembly, stock hood, original DC rally wheels)..........EVERYTHING is included with the car. This car could be converted back to matching number status within a week's time...........................................but why would you want to? Would you like to have an L-88 Corvette? Do you want to lay down $3 to $4 million dollars for one and not be able to drive it? This is a car that pays tribute to one of the greatest Corvettes that Chevrolet ever built.......................the fabulous L-88, and only 20 were built in 1967. This car can be driven and enjoyed without the fear of damaging a multi-million dollar piece of art. Car runs and drives perfect and does not overheat. I took the car to Bloomington Gold at Indy in June, 2017 and had an opportunity to make 4 laps around the track and it was a blast. This truly is a one of a kind car. Also included, but not currently installed, is an NOS set of F-41 front springs, an original F-41 rear spring and a pair of big block side yokes and caps for the differential. 8596241469 8AM to 10PM EDT A deposit of $2000 via PayPal is required within 48 hours and balance due within 7 days of auction end.
