Description of 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z |
After 17 years of enjoyable ownership a growing family nessecitates the sale of my bitchin Camaro. It has always been garaged and I have maintained it religiously over the years. This has been a weekend driven, second car the entire time I have owned it. I have modified this car tasetfully and expertly over the years in order to keep its performance resepctable as time went on. Car was originally a 350 auto. Current highlights of the car are built 350 (ZZ4 shortblock and edelbrock e-tec heads),c-5 corvette disk brakes,a t-56 six speed manual trans (less than 2,000 miles since profesional rebuild and new clutch). Car was taken down to bare metal and repainted in 2016, it is rust free. This car is 100% reliable. It has no leaks of any kind. Body is extremely straight and the paint is in very good condition. Interior is clean with latter model leather seats. C-5 corvette brakes, upgraded suspension and oversize tires make for a fun handling car. This Camaro makes approx 360hp and 450ft/lb. My best recorded 0-60 is 4.6sec. Best 1/4 mile time was 12.7. Car gets 21 mpg on the freeway and high teens in mixed driving. I have put approx 70k miles on this car in all the years I have owned it. The engine and associated parts I put in this car have approx 50k miles on them, the suspension stuff 40k. The paint job was 5k miles ago and the trans and tires have less than 2k miles on them. I have done so much work to this car over the years that it would be hard to list it all but here is what I can think of: -Front brakes are C-5 (97-04) Corvette 13" PBR with ceramic pads on modified spindles and russell braided lines from big brakeswap.com -Rear brakes are 1996 Z-28 11.5" PBR with ceramic pads and russell braided lines mounted on modified 4th gen 10 bolt backing plates rear e-brake cables Napa#94264 -Wheels ROH ZS 17"x9.5" with 4.5" back space-Tires Sumitomo 275/40r17 with less than 1000 miles since new six months ago-Suspension bushings are all prothane performance polyurethane-KYB GR2 struts and shocks-Alston Subframe Connectors professionally welded in-Edelbrock panhard rod-Strut tower brace-poly-joint tubulartrailing arms -Rear aero wing and powerblisters, skirts and chin spoiler off a 91 Z-28-Shaved antenae, car sanded to bear metal and repainted with base clear in 2016 -Graphite leather seats out off a 98 Z-28, low miles, no rips or tears-Replacement front carpet-Pioneer CD headunit and speakers front and rear-R134a retrofitted AC system-Excellent conditon dashboard and crack free door panels-Replaced weather stripping-aftermarket keyless entry/hatch release. -Scoggin-Dickey sourced genuine GM L-98 replacement short block-LT4 HOT cam-Edelbrock e-tec 170 heads-crane magnum 1.6 roller tip rockers-Comp Cams solid one piece pushrods #7693-16-ARP Headbolts-Accell 8.8mm plug wires-Accell tan cap and coil-Bosch platinum spark plugs-Scoggin-Dickey Vortec TPI intake-Accell Large tube intake runners-58mm professional products throttle boby-gutted MAF-K&N airfilters-Heedeman Shorty Headers-flowmaster 3" exhaust with dual 2.5" outlets-Powermaster 160 Amp chrome Alternator-Smog delete pulley-25% Underdrive crank pulley APC-Optima Red top gell cell battery-Replacement Lt1 style starter. -Installed prominator and custom tuned ecm for built motor -9 bolt rear axle, re-geared to 3.7, shimmed posi cones-replacedrear axle seals and bearings-TA performance rear axle girdle and ARP studs installed in bearing housing-1le Aluminum driveshaft T-56 six speed manual transmission out of a 97 Trans-Am.Had the tailshaft machined for mechanical speedo output.Professionally built by texas drive train performance to withstand 700hp. New Luk flywheel, clutch and hydraulics. Less than 2000 miles on rebuild and swap.-Hurst shifter with solid aluminum anodized shifter ball.-Custom trans crossmember/torque arm mount Replaced:HP power steering hose, power steering box,in tank delco fuel pump, new rad fan motors, serpentine belt tensioner. This car is fast, reliable and comfortable, the AC blows cold. Everything works. Car starts with almost no cranking even after sitting weeks at a time. Engine tune is good and car will idle nicely. Installed ecm prominator allows for custom engine tuning with a laptop. Exhaust is throatly and burbly. This car is ready to drive cross country at a moments notice. Condiion is as pictured. Issues I know of are slow power windows and lazy automatic door locks. They all need disassembled and cleaned. I replaced the weather striping but still get some wind noise in cabin sometimes, windows either need adjusted or weather stripping replaced again. Sometimes you have to jiggle the hood to get the latch to release. Other than that this is a good car in great shape for its age. Please email with any questions or if you need images of anything. I encourage anyone that can to come see the car in person. Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end this auction due to prior sale. I will be happy to help coordinate shipping or pickup |
