Description of 1953 Chevrolet Other Pickups 3100 Half-ton Pickup |
1953 Chevrolet 3100 Half-ton Pickup Description 1953 Chevrolet 3100 Half-ton Pickup Same owner for past 31 years! Fresh restoration; truck reportedly driven 600 miles since being restored Final year for the two-piece windshield and rectangular taillights 216 CID inline six-cylinder engine Three-speed manual transmission with synchromesh Mariner Blue exterior (code 417) with yellow pinstriping Wood bed siderails and new wooden bed floor Wide whitewall tires Driver’s side spotlight and cab sunvisor Documentation includes original Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual and a copy of Jim Carter Antique Truck Parts catalog from Fall 1995Those looking for postwar pickups should stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars; we are proud to present this 1953 Chevrolet 3100 Half-ton “Light Delivery” model. The title on this tidy truck shows the same loving owner since 1987, 31 years! Finished in Mariner Blue with a yellow pinstripe, this truck’s paint and trim are in very good order but not show quality, with only the slightest blemishes visible on close examination. The truck’s split windshield and other glass panels are clear and intact. Its lights, including the driver’s side spotlight, look great and the truck’s bodywork is straight and solid. The bumpers are shiny and fit well to the body and there’s even an external sunvisor for driver and passenger. The cargo bed has a newer wooden floor and corresponding bed siderails. This 3100 rolls bias-ply wide whitewalls, size 6.70-15 at all four corners, each one surrounding a steel wheel with a full moon factory wheel cover. Under the hood is a 216 CID straight six-cylinder engine mated to a three-speed manual transmission with synchromesh. Inside, the bench seat is in great shape. The headliner and three-spoke steering wheel with rim cover are both in satisfactory condition. The instrument panel and inner door panels are in good order, as is the shift lever. Completing the truck’s interior is a factory AM radio. Advance-Design was a truck series by Chevrolet, its first major redesign after WWII. It was billed as a larger, stronger, and sleeker design in comparison to the earlier AK Series. First available on Saturday June 28, 1947, these trucks were sold with various minor changes over the years until March 25, 1955, when the Task Force Series trucks replaced the aging Advance-Design model. The same basic design family was used for all of its trucks including the Suburban, panel trucks, canopy express and cab overs. The cab overs used the same basic cab configuration and similar grille but used a shorter and taller hood and different fenders. The unique Cab Over fenders and hood required a custom cowl area which makes the Cab Over Engine cabs and normal truck cabs incompatible with one another while all truck cabs of all weights interchange. From 1947 until 1955, Chevrolet trucks were number one in sales in the United States, with rebranded versions sold at GMC locations. While General Motors used this front-end sheet metal, and to a slightly lesser extent the cab, on all of its trucks except for the Cab Overs, there are three main sizes of this truck: the half-, three-quarter-, and full ton capacities in short and long wheelbase. Nineteen fifty-three was the last year for the 216 CID inline-six. Hood side emblems now only read 3100, 3600, 3800, 4400, or 6400 in large print. New serial number codes: H ½ ton, J ¾ ton and L 1 ton. Competition to this Chevrolet truck in 1953 included Dodge’s B-series half-ton trucks, Ford’s F-100 trucks and GMC’s New Design trucks. This truck is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 43,607 miles. Former owner reports truck has been driven about 600 miles since restored. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! VIN:1BM4706 Please note truck is titled off engine number. Please Click Here to View Our YouTube Video!
