Description of 1967 Chevrolet Suburban Base |
What we have here is a 1967 Chevrolet K 10 Carry All Suburban. This is one of only 166 made in 1967 so this Desert Survivor is a rare find indeed. The previous owner was a longtime family friend who recently passed away, he owned her for the last 41 years. Battered and bruised a little, she has been in service this entire time as a handy man hauler. I put in a new battery and fuel filter and drove her home. the big six (292cid.) and backed by a four speed manual transmission, this truck was meant for business. Primarily unmolested after fifty years of life, she still has the original Spicer locking hubs. This K 10 is an amazing platform for restoration to her former glory. Some dents and rust spots are common in these old work horses, but the doors and hood are all solid and tight. All original glass, all the instrumentation functions and she drives very well on four new tires. I put in new plugs and cleaned her up some but decided not to go too far as I don’t know what the new owner wants to do. I put a spare seat out of another C 10 that I own, the original seat is included as well. This head turning Unicorn is an awesome piece of American History. Please ask all questions before bidding and I will answer them asap. You are responsible for local pick up or setting up delivery on your dime. 115 k miles, Dana 44 front diff. 3.73 gears. I removed all the front flooring to show the rust spots, not great but, I have seen much worse. All five doors are in very good shape with no rust issues. Not bad for a truck that never saw a garage in over fifty years. I ran her through the four wheel drive functions and all is well. She needs a reseal and some TLC, but overall a winner. From Hemmings: “In the 1967-'72 era, a sea change occurred that foreshadowed the use of the four-wheel-drive light truck as a replacement for the station wagon in driveways across America. Sales numbers for Suburbans grew dramatically during this period, from about 6,200 in 1967 to more than 27,000 in 1972--an increase of nearly 450 percent. The number of Suburbans ordered with four-wheel drive increased significantly during those years, too. In 1967, only 166 half-ton models and 120 three-quarter-tons were built with four-wheel drive. By 1972, though, 3,000 half-tons and nearly 1,400 three-quarter-ton models were equipped with four-wheel drive. By the dawn of the 21st century, Detroit and American motorists had all but abandoned the car-based utility vehicle in favor of light trucks.” |
