Sometimes you just want a nice old truck. Not a beater, not someone else's old work truck, but something you can wash on the weekends without feeling like you're wasting your time, a truck that gets nods of approval in the parking lot, a truck that looks and runs great that doesn't cost a fortune. Case in point? This extremely clean and very affordable 1987 Chevrolet C10 pickup. Finished in an attractive shade of medium blue, the regular cab/short bed... style is the one to own if you're not using it to move building materials. Trim, relatively athletic with the small block V8 under the hood, and arguably the most handsome of the bunch, this C10 is incredibly well preserved for having lived three decades of life. Thanks to an easy life in the warm, dry southern US and a repaint about three years ago, it's in great shape, and with a spray-in bedliner the bed is still ready to do some heavy lifting. The paint looks about the way you'd expect, and if we didn't know better, we could almost say it passes for being original. It's got an honest look that's far from perfect but appealing nonetheless. The one thing we can be certain of, however, is that this truck has been expertly maintained and loved all its life. The chrome and stainless are still bright, the glass is clear, and the chrome rear bumper adds a sporty look without being heavy and clumsy. The interior is equally nice, with blue vinyl on the bench seat and a durable rubber mat under foot. The dash pad and door panels are new, while the rest appears to be nice original stuff. The dash and gauges are all original, but the factory radio has been replaced by a newer digital AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that's a big improvement over the original gear. It also has cold factory A/C that has been converted to R134a refrigerant for easy service in the future. This is a very clean interior that has clearly been well-maintained and had a reasonable pile of money spent on it already. Just get in and go and don't worry about getting a little mud in there while you're working because that's what this truck was made to do. The great thing about old trucks is that they are perhaps the closest living relatives to the mighty muscle cars. V8 power, rear-wheel drive, and a sturdy suspension all give this truck the feeling that it could haul anything. Looking almost completely stock, the 350 cubic inch V8 runs well, delivering smooth power and torque without a hiccup. Most of the original components are still in place, including the air cleaner, accessories, and even the original stamped steel valve covers. With throttle body fuel injection, it starts easily and idles well, and there's a surprising amount of torque on tap. The original exhaust manifolds dump into a fresh dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers so it certainly sounds like a muscle truck. The TH400 3-speed automatic is durable enough to do the heavy work and as you can see, this truck hasn't spent time in the rust belt; it's clean! Handsome Rally wheels with trim rings and spinners wear fat white-letter radials. Take this truck just about anywhere and you will undoubtedly hear, "Nice truck," and get an approving nod. These were handsome machines when new and today are gaining respect as collector's items. Call today!
