Description of 1970 Chevrolet El Camino

Manufactured in Los Angeles. CA Sept of 1969. this car has spent most of its life in SoCal. I purchased it almost 10 years ago from a guy in Huntington Beach. This is my summertime play toy so it's kept garaged when not in use. Engine details. . 030 over 454. Pump gas friendly SRP forged 9. 5:1 CR pistons. GM dimple rods. and forged crank. all of which has been balanced. It's got a 0. 600" plus lift COMP solid roller cam with massive valve springs to match. Crane roller rockers. matching Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads and intake. The Holley 770 Street Avenger carb inhales through K&N lungs. Other bolt ins include a Milodon oil pan. Holley fuel pump and pressure regulator. chrome alternator and water pump and a MSD 6AL ignition box. Shorty Headman headers empty into 2-1/2" aluminized dual exhaust with H-pipe crossover and twin Flowmaster mufflers. The SS-striped Hardwood fiberglass hood keeps the engine from getting sunburned. Tranny is a TH700R4 with lots of beefy parts. plenty strong to handle the approx 600 horses and BBC torque. Rear axle is 3. 55:1 12-bolt. Eaton posi with Tom's axles and an aluminum girdle. Coupled with the 2500 rpm stall w/lockup converter. she can boil the tires with ease. yet cruises down the highway at an easy 2300 RPM at 65 MPH. The 4 core radiator and tranny cooler takes the worry out of summer traffic or highway travel. Black on black interior is in great condition with new headliner. door panels and reupholstered split bench seat. Includes B&M ratchet shifter. tach and gauge cluster. Power steering and power brakes. Alpine head unit with CD player powers the 6X9 speakers. Security system keeps everything safe. Rims are 15" chrome Corvette rally's. 10" in back and 8" in front. Front tires are 235-60-15s. Rears are 11" wide 255-50-15 Mickey Thompson ET Street radials. With only a few thousand miles on them. all rubber is nearly new. Upgraded rectangular rear control arms eliminate wheel hop so it really hooks hard. Craftec tonneau cover smooths the airflow over the bed. Car has won numerous trophies at area car shows. including 2nd place in her class at GM Carlisle in 2009. Has also appeared in Chevy High Performance magazine in 2010. So what's not to love about this car?Half a dozen paint defects. the previous owner tagged his workbench with the left front headlight bezel. the heat and AC removed by previous owner. there's a dent in one of the exhaust pipes. Radiator has a minor leak where the upper hose connects. Neutral start switch not hooked up. You sharp eyed A-body folks out there will notice the car sports a Chevelle front bumper. I have a rechromed El Camino bumper if you want it. This is not a 1000 point show car. But it is a car that shows well and that you can have a lot of fun with. Car is being advertised locally (Rhode Island) so seller reserves the right to end auction early.
