Description of 1928 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
This original 1928 Chevy Capitol came from the original family. They had an Almond Orchard outside of Chico, CA. This truck is very original with original functioning parts. The passenger outside door handle is not original, thats about the only thing I am aware of. The truck had a lot of restoration many years ago. It has the benefit of all the wood in the cab being replaced. It is very very solid now with no issues. See Photos. The body is not perfect, there are a few repairs and welds here and there to fix tears. But it is amazingly straight. The bed is a "rocker dump bed". It was built by Lee Trailer and Body in Chicago Il. One yard capacity. It has its original Brass data plate still attached. The amazing part of this bed it it is dent and ding free. I would say the bed is EXCELLENT and fully functioning. The original 4 cyl motor fires right up and idles smoothly. This is a running and driving truck. The guages are working, even the dash light. New battery. Brakes are working good including the emergency brake. The LP series one ton was the first chevy truck to get front brakes. The truck has a 6 volt fuel pump to bypass the troublesome original vacuum pump and help start it faster after sitting. Original gas tank is clean. Tires all hold air. Two are very good and two have cracking from the sun. I do not have title for this truck. It does have its original data plate. It has its CA plates on it from 1929. The "LP" series truck is a late 1928 so the truck was probably originally titled in CA as a 1929.I do have a CA DMV lost title statement, Bill of Sale and signed Power of atty on this truck. "the LP series offered many mechanical improvements over previous truck models. There were a new 4-speed transmission as standard equipment (a lighter version of a 4-speed transmission was an option before) and mechanical 4-wheel brakes (LP is the first Chevrolet truck was equipped with front brakes). The 4-cylinder engine developed 35 hp." Selling as is and will hold for 30 days while transportation arrangements are made. |
