Description of 1972 Chevrolet El Camino |
For Sale is my 1972 El Camino. Its been in my family for over 15 years. It was my father's car, then passed on to me. As far as i know, it's been a California car its whole life. Has the original Blue 1970s license plates front and rear. Clean Title, i have the pink slip in hand. And it has current California registration. Smog Exempt! No smog required. Bodywork and Primer was done by my father years ago. It has held up well over the years. It has minor imperfections and cracks here and there. Some small bubbling on the pass side door and rocker, but no major rust or rot. There's a slight gap at the rear chrome bumper, it's been that way since we acquired the car. No major rust issues overall, or underneath. The car has never been in any accidents since it has been under our ownership. I actually like the current Patina of the aged primer and had no plans to paint the car. But that will be up to the new owner. I have lowered the price to account for bodywork, prep, and paint. I do not have the Bed Molding. We purchased the El Camino with the Cowl Hood already on it years ago, so that's a nice upgrade and makes it look a lot tougher than the stock flat hood. We added the hood pins to it. The interior is pretty clean but needs Door Panels (currently DynaMat on the doors), needs new Carpet/Carpet kit, and the bench seat could use a re-upholstery job. SS steering wheel is not original but a nice upgrade. The steering column wiring harness was replaced with a brand new unit from OPGI a few years ago. Other minor things like the sunvisors could use an adjustment, glove box door doesnt stay latched closed, etc. There is no stereo. Headliner is in good shape. Manual windows work, manual locks work, dash lights work, sweep gauge works, gas gauge works, wipers work, all headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and front and rear turn signals work. No wiring issues or electrical gremlins, it's very solid. This car can sit for a couple weeks and still start right up no problem. The heater used to work, but the blower went out. So no heat/defroster, and no AC. The factory vents are all there and could be used to install Vintage Air/Heat. The engine is a 350ci V8 that was rebuilt several years ago, it has a mild RV cam. It's not going to make the OKC Top Ten List any time soon, but it is a good running, reliable powerplant. It has Corvette finned valve covers as a nice touch. The auto trans was completely rebuilt years ago and shifts great, no issues at all. Over the years we always maintained the car and changed fluids on a regular basis. I do all my own oil changes as well, with quality products and additives like Lucas, Mobil 1 full synthetic, K&N & Wix filters, etc. Under the Hood this Elco has had a recent full tune up, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, has HEI distributer, a new Edelbrock carburetor, Edelbrock manifold, new Spectre air filter, new fuel lines, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new Alternator, new(er) Starter, new Optima Red Top battery, new Upper and Lower Rad hoses, all fluids flushed and topped off. Exhaust has older Long Tube headers straight piped into dual Flowmasters, with 2.5'' pipes going out back, finished off with dual Magnaflow stainless Tips. It could use new front Inner fender well skins. PRO TOURING AND BRAKE UPGRADES: I recently installed CPP's (Classic Performance Products) Stage 1 Pro Touring Suspension/Chassis Kit. This Elco now has all new Upper and Lower Control Arms, front and rear Sway Bars, front and rear Lowered Coil Springs, front and rear shocks... I've also upgraded the brakes front and rear with CPP's Master Cylinder, and front and rear performance drilled and slotte/d rotors. Stops great. Huge upgrade over the factory disc brakes and rear drums. And Brand New Wheels (Torque Thrust style replicas) 15x7 front and 15x8 rear, and Brand New tires front and rear. Wheels and Tires have less than 200 miles on them. Brakes are also pretty much brand new. This Elco rides and handles like a new, modern car. My plan was to LS swap this Elco, so that's why i started out with upgrading the suspension, chassis, and brakes. This is the perfect classic car for someone looking to drop in more horsepower as all it would need is an engine swap and upgraded rear end. But as is, even with the current 350, this is a reliable, fun daily driver that just needs cosmetics and minor work to be show worthy. I get compliments and looks all the time when driving this El Camino around. Hate to sell it, but unfortunately i must free up space (and money). Great project for an El Camino/Chevy lover out there. I have lowered the price and feel that it is a very fair price for this El Camino, esp considering all of the upgrades done. I have taken into account bodywork/paint, interior, AC/Heater, and other small things it needs. Huge Price Reduction! Just $4500 Firm. More photos available upon request. Car is located in Riverside, CA. Cash in Person or Bank Wire Transfer only. This vehicle is being sold As-Is, with no warranty expressed or implied. Thanks for looking! |
