Description of 1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
1956 Chevrolet 3100 SWB Stepside Box w/Tonneau cover Up for sale is a nice CLEAN pickup that runs, drives nicely and stops evenly. Always garage stored when not in use. Used little. This truck has a very clean frame and running gear free from rust. Very clean interior and engine compartment. Engine: is a rebuilt V8-283 (casting 3789935 1957-1962 age roughly). Engine was rebuilt prior to buying it. Starts great, peppy to drive. Don't see any smoke at tailpipes on startup or driving. Miles since rebuild, when it was rebuilt, by whom all unknown.Ignition: Coil/pointsCarburetor: GM 2 Jet Rochester 2G/2GC/2GV family, w/manual choke and stock air cleaner setup.Belts: single belt, VGCRadiator: 2-core VGC w/clean antifreeze,Hoses: heater hoses VGC, lower radiator hose good, thermostat and top radiator hose are new have been replaced last year.Battery: new battery 2017 and is not the one shown in the pictures, needs hold down clamp.Exhaust: stock cast iron manifolds, dual exhaust, mufflers are glass pack type, exhaust pipes VGC front to rear, tailpipes apprear to be newer than the rest, nice sound.Manual steering & brakes, no PS/PB, drums all around. Transmission: is a Turbo 400, tag on it says "D538 CD67-102665" which would be CD=396/402, 67=1967, 102665=serial# 538th day from 1/1/1966 which would be June 1967 mfg'd roughly. Shifts up/down smoothly, no kicks. I'm sure it too has been rebuilt probably when the engine was redone. When stored over winter there isa minor drip from the pan bolt which appears to come from the around the vacuum modulator. Tires: 4 matching BF Goodrich Radial T/A P255/60R15 M+S with excllent tread mounted on 4 matching American Racing Aluminum 6 hole rims, all in VGC. Spare in bed is an P215/75R15 on a 6 bolt rim, good tread, holds air. Assume it fits. Rear Axle: is a Corp 12 bolt w/drum brakes no emergency brake cable setup, open differential, calculated ratio via driveshaft hand turns makes it probably 3.73:1. Leaf springs all around and in VGC, Truck is painted in a dark blue metallic. There are scratches, chips, cracks, in the paint here and there (see pictures). It's not new qualitiy any more of course but it looks good and is perfect if you actually want to drive, haul stuff, cruise around in and just enjoy it. Cab/Interior:All working: gauges (temp, amps, oil, gas), horn, dome lamp light & switch, speedometer (but not accurate), vents open/close, has a heater hot water shutoff valve (works). AM/FM/Cassette digital radio works, headlights hi/low beam, parking lights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals and dash turn signal indicators, window cranks, window vents.Seat has been reupholstered and is in beautiful condition. Miscellaneous:Headliner and Sun Shades in cab is missing. A Counter Part brand (part #55-13785) Headliner Retainer Seal kit is in a package behind the seat.Drivers side door is missing its weatherstrip. A Clesters Auto Rubber Seals (part #8001-315) replacement weatherstrip set is in a package behind the seat.Wipers are vacuum driven, works intermittently.Odometer shows 40K but is broken.Chip in windshield and passenger side vent window cracked.Small dent in hood.Chrome emblems on the fenders are pitted.Heater blower motor not working.Rear right turn signal can sometimes not blink.Slight seepage from the thermostat housing when it was replaced. Will need a starter solenoid in the future as it will go click sometimes.Box floor is wood with a steel diamond plate on top, comes with tonneau cover (no rips or tears). In the bed are 2 rust free front fenders. They came with the truck it was purchased. Don't know the story is there. One of them has a patch cut out of it. They also go with the truck.
