This 1961 Impala S/S was ordered from the factory as is, and is a true Unicorn due to its low production numbers and original un-restoredcondition.We have had this car in the family since 1991, and are the third owners. This car has its original paint and it is clear that the SS package was not added on after it was sold or even at the original selling dealership. In addition the original owner is still alive (whopurchased car out of the Army at the age of 24). The original Dealership that sold the car has records of special ordering it and selling it (see picture of correspondance). I would liketo emphasize that due to the very lowfactory production of the SS convertible in 1961, I believe there are only twoother AUTHENTICfactory SS convertible's known to have survived out of the34 produced (on a assembly line), and all other SSconvertiblesare either clones or possibly have the dealer installed SS package. The two most difficult things to fake are the cowl tag stamping or the holes for the cross flags behind the grab bar since these holes would have to be filled. On the back side of the dash where cross flags would have been installed on a non factory SS carit is unlikely that an expert eye could not tell that they were welded in.Most clones still have thecross flags behind the grab bar for this reason. Thecross flags are on the four speed console therefore the Factory decided it was redundant to also include them behind the grab bar on a factory built SS 4-speed car. The exception to this rule would be an automatic car which would not have the floor console with cross flags. In 28years of searching, no automatic "factory" SS convertible has surfaced, and it is unlikely thatone was ever built. ·Factory built SS package convertible (1 of 34 SS convertibles made on an assembly line and not a "dealer installed SSpackage."). ·348 Tri-Power motor (350hp)with optional 4 speed transmission (big block grill emblem). ·SS package includes:heavy duty springs, shocks, posi traction, 6"wide wheels, 1"white wall tires, column mounted tachometer (working), center metallic brakes (no longer on car), SS emblems, andspinner hubcaps (solid center hubcaps to mount spinners). ·There is an "S" on the cowl tag for SS ·The original SS emblems have never been removed which you can tell by the paint on the shell nuts in the trunk. ·95% original Paint on car ·Original Upholstery (minus the carpet that was replaced in the 90's, and bootcover). ·Original Spare Tire and Jack . ·Original paint in engine compartment including decals. ·Dual Spotlights (installed at dealership when new). ·Door edge guards. ·Front and rear bumper guards. ·Grill Guard. ·Locking Gas Cap. ·Rear Antenna. ·Tissue Dispenser. ·Passenger Mirror ·Gas Door Guard ·Original Mileage 90,842 miles *** BUYER PAYS FOR SHIPPING, LOCAL PICKUP AVAILABLE*** Call Don, if you have any questions.
