Description of 1989 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 |
1989 Silverado when Silverado meant something! This 1988 Silverado has spent its entire life in the arid high desert of the Pacific Northwest. Rust is just not found on either body or frame. This Garnet & Silver Chevrolet K-1500 4x4 Short Box appears to have been ordered by a sophisticated individual. It offers all the upper-end options of the day. Included in the list are: Factory Bucket Seats with Factory Console Air Conditioning Tilt steering with Cruise Power Windows and Door Locks Deluxe Two-Tone Paint Sliding Rear Window Of Interest: this truck has neither the normal 4x4 badging nor the front pull hooks. The frontal air dam is the solid type without the usual outlets for pull hooks. This refined look seems to beckon back to the discerning original owner. This truck is spec'd out with the following mechanical options: 4-wheel drive 350 c.i. fuel injected V-8 700r4 transmission with overdrive Posi Track (G80) rear differential with 3.42 gears As for condition, all glass is excellent, the interior is good, but expect some minor wear commiserate with a 30-year-old vehicle. All electrical items operate without problems. Both A/C and heater function exceptionally well. The A/C has been converted to R-12 coolant. The driveline mechanicals, the tranny, transfer case, front & rear axles, all perform without any problems. Steering & brakes function properly. The engine, while running well, is known to have internal vacuum leaks. While it is quite peppy, it appears to have high miles and one would be prudent to either rebuild or replace this power plant soon. The body, including both cab and box, are in fair condition. Small dents can be found, as well as a minor damaged right front fender. As is normal for trucks of this vintage, the paint on the sides and hood are good but the paint is thin on the cab roof. A printout of all factory options is available upon request. I am of the belief this truck would make an excellent candidate for a quality restoration. All parts are present and work, the body is very sound & mechanicals are in fine condition. I have owned this K-1500 for the past 6 years, and it has been in regular use. I encourage any potential buyers to call me to discuss specifics of this outstanding vehicle. I will NOT entertain any offers outside of eBay - don't ask.
