Description of 1983 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 Silverado |
Up for sale is a well-cared for loaded 1983 Chevrolet K30 Silverado. I bought this truck several years ago when my other K30 was totaled. It was a two owner Arkansas truck. The second owner lived next to the original owner and had known the truck since it was new. The whole truck was repainted when the original owner had the visor installed. The cab lights were removed for the visor. The truck was stored in the winters and the paint still looks good. I continue to store it in the winters and don't drive it in the salt. I also don't go mudding or off-roading. The truck has a 454 with a NV4500 five speed manual transmission. Behind that is a 1987 NP205 transfer case and 4.10 ratio dana 60 front and 14 bolt full floater rear with limited slip. Some of the other options are: AC, cruise, tilt column, power doors, door edge guard, dash tach, dual tanks, engine oil cooler, bed light, and sliding rear window. I have no hesitation to drive this truck anywhere. Last fall I drove the truck to California and back without any issues and then did it twice more this spring. I bought a set of new 17x10" Indy US MAGS wheels and had new Falken 35x12.5" tires put on them. I bought five wheels and five tires so the spare would match. It had the lift kit on when I bought it, I think it's around 2.5 to 4 inches of lift. It runs and drives great, I have no problem running down the interstate at 75mph, or doing 85mph across Nevada. I did the NV4500 transmission swap last summer to get the overdrive gear for highway driving. I used a new bellhousing from Advanced Adapter along with their NV4500 to round 6 bolt patter NP205 transfer case adapter. The pedals and cross member were sourced from an '87 Chevy pickup and suburban in a local salvage yard. The rest of the required parts for the swap were bought new, flywheel, clutch, master/slave, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. I also replaced all of the seals in the transfer case. The previous owner had a gooseneck hitch installed, I've never used it and just put a heavy bed mat in the bed to cover the ball mount. Everything works except the high beam indicator, I haven't had the time to pull the dash apart and check it out. The cruise control also quit working. The windshield washer pump has never worked and I keep forgetting to replace it as I don't drive it much in the rain. The smog pumps were removed long before I bought it. There are several other cosmetic things left that I didn't do. The exhaust is good but I don't like the way it looks, I also don't like the faded windshield plastic chrome trim. I changed the AC over to the R134A refrigerant last summer, everything but the condenser was replaced with new parts. The dash is not cracked, the cover is on to protect it. The odometer reads 56k miles but it has been around once so the correct mileage is 156k. The truck is occasionally driven so the milage will go up. I built this truck and never thought I'd sell it, I always bought the higher quality parts when there were options available. Clean title in my name. Fuel tanks are full, fluids are fresh, bearings are greased and it is ready to go, fly in and drive it home. I'm happy to answer questions or take specific pictures, the truck is also for sale locally and I'll end the listing if it sells.
