1972 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS --Orange Flame with Black Stripes, Black Vinyl interior, Black carpeting, 402 Cu. In. 6.6L Big Block V8 engine, 4-Speed manual transmission, Numbers Matching Engine. Chevrolet updated the design for the Chevelle in 1971. New front-end and rear-end styling included large Power-Beam single-unit headlights, a reworked grille and bumper, and integral signal lights. New dual round taillights were now integrated with the rear chrome bumper. The SS equipment options remained the same for 1972 as they had been in... 1971. Any V8 was optional equipment with the higher output V8's being rarer. All these updates were enough for the Chevelle (in all trims) to be America's second-best selling car in 1972. 1972 was also the final year for one of the most iconic muscle cars ever. Chevrolet completely redesigned and changed the design for 1973 onward as massively increased US emissions struck the muscle car world. This Chevelle SS has a matching numbers engine with a Vin correct SS 402 Big Block. This SS has been thoroughly preserved and well maintained with a bare metal repaint in Vin correct Orange Flame. Interior has been reupholstered in correct Black Vinyl. Paint condition is excellent throughout. Dash pad and bumpers were kept original as condition is very good. This Chevelle SS has been owned by a good client and friend of Autosport Designs, Inc. It has been used sparingly for spirited drives and performed flawlessly on every occasion. A wonderful example of classic American muscle, this Chevelle SS is ready to be thoroughly enjoyed by its next muscle car enthusiast. It would certainly make a great addition to any collection or simply for show and touring pleasure.
