Description of 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle |
FOR SALE 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible First thing is, I've owned this car since 2009 and it's time for something new. I've always wanted a Chevelle SS convertible, searched all over, bought it in Boston. I was like everyone back then, I wanted one and they were bringing $50-75k. The person I bought this from owned the car for 5 years. He had no paperwork proving that it was born a "true SS" so, I bought it that way and that's the way I'm selling it. It's a true convertible. It does have all the SS equipment, round gauges, 12 bolt posi rear end, boxed trailing arms, larger steering shaft and notches in the inner fenders. Unfortunately, after 1970, GM didn't put the SS code in the VIN Number anymore, so other than a build-sheet there is no way to prove a real SS. Now to the car: It has a brand new installed last year 454 GM create motor, it had a 396 before and I had nothing but issues with it. That motor was tired, so I wanted a true 425 horse power big block. The new GM create motor was the only way to go. While it was out I had the Muncie 4speed completely rebuilt. The input shaft had some wear, so I replaced it with an OEM shaft not a repo. The clutch was in great shape. It has power steering, no power brakes. It's a true code #53 Placer Gold and it was painted before I purchased it. The paint is in nice and shiny but, it is over 10 years old. There is a couple of cracks on the seam by the trunk lid on both sides. Also, there is some chips and blemishes. There is no rust. The floors are perfect, the engine compartment is amazingly clean. The trunk is super solid. It had a frame off restoration. It did originally have tan interior which someone changed to black, which is much better. The interior is in amazing condition. It's in all original condition. Everything works except for the temp gauge, which I have an aftermarket under the dash. The tach and gas gauge work perfect. It also has a power top which works perfect and is in great condition. Also top has a glass rear window and parade cover. The carpets are great, and I purchased custom SS floor mats. I've bought several things over the years for it. New gas tank and straps. I've replaced the tires, new Exhaust from the headers. New coated headman headers. The car runs and drives perfect. It's a true muscle car... I do have a clear NY State current Registration. Any questions call or text me @ 585-509-1583 or dan.spurr@spurrdealerships.com |
