Description of 1966 Chevrolet Caprice |
True Washington State big block survivor, 6 passenger station wagon. Built in Los Angeles and sold in Renton, WA from the Williams and Swanson Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership. I have the original salesman's card who sold the car, the brass engraved "built for" plaque for the original owner as well as the documents you see in the pictures. I believe the miles to be true as I also have service receipts from 1987 both at Midas and Elliot Tire Service with odometer readings written in at 90,294.0 miles. After the original owner passed away the car sat since 1997. I have owned it since 2005. This year with some time, effort and investment, I got it running and driving. Unfortunately, I have too many projects to keep the car. Please see the photos for proof of the numbers matching 396ci engine as its stamp matches the VIN #. It has the original Quadrajet carburetor that I had remanufactured. The power steering, radiator, water pump and heater are all original and in working order. I have driven the car a few times around town, but it needs new tires as the ones it has are thirty years old.The car is very straight and the chrome, stainless, and aluminum are nearly perfect. The floor pans are excellent as well as the pan in the rear of the car. The spare tire well is rust free. There are the typical rust areas, under the rear side windows and the drivers rear quarter panel as the photos show. I have the original carpet for the back of the car that has the snaps to hold it down as well as the rubber mat that sits in the storage well in the back. This car is an interior, paint, and some TLC away from being a great ride, a rod hauler or to take to the Sunday shows. Contact me if you would like additional photos.
To bring it up to running and driving status I have replaced or rebuilt the following: Wheel Cylinders Brake shoes Master Cylinder Alternator Oil pump and screen Cleaned fuel lines and tank Fuel pump Fuel filter Air filter Transmission lines, filter, vacuum pump and fluid I have kept all the original pieces that were replaced if someone wants to rebuild them and and have a very original car. |
