Description of 1973 Chevrolet Corvette T-Tops |
To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. As to myself, I am a (68) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback that is at 100% with (1,204) transactions. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers.
Some Brief History on the 1973 Corvette Stingray: The 1973 Corvette was the first to receive a significant restyle since the third-generation Corvettes were introduced in 1968, mainly due to the ever-increasing federal regulations. As the door slammed on the muscle car era, new regulations for 5-mph front bumpers led to a color-keyed urethane front end treatment for the 1973 Chevrolet Corvette, replacing the chrome bumper. It added only 35 pounds, and the tail stayed the same as1972for another year. Radial tires were introduced as well as a new coolant recycling system. Corvette production increased to 30,464, but only 4,943 were convertibles, and 1,328 buyers chose the auxiliary hardtop for $267. The coupe rear window was also no longer removable. Prices increased slightly to $5,561.50 for the base coupe and $5,398.50 for the convertible. As horsepower dwindled to 190 bhp for the base model, Chevrolet concentrated on sound deadening material to cut interior noise a claimed 40 percent. Rubber pads were fitted between the body and chassis. Steel beams were installed in the doors as crash protection. A cold-air induction hood was introduced and radial tires were now standard. The solid-lifter LT1 engine was no longer available, and engine options were limited to the base 350 cid 190 bhp V-8, the 250 bhp 350 cid L82, or the 275 bhp 454 cid LS4 producing only 275 bhp. Not surprisingly perhaps, 17,927 buyers opted for the 3-speed HydraMatic transmission and only 3,704 chose the close-ratio 4-speed M21 manual gearbox. A further 21,578 buyers selected air-conditioning, with 24,168 choosing power disc brakes and 27,872 choosing power steering. 10 colors were offered again: Orange, Yellow, Metallic Yellow, Mille Miglia Red, Elkhart Green, Blue-green, Medium Blue, Dark Blue, Classic White and Silver. A further 30 cars were painted black at the St. Louis plant.
Now for your consideration of my good friend's 1973 Corvette Stingray. I don't know what to say about this Corvette other than it is a wicked good deal. Today's "good value" according to Hagerty is $12,400 and $750 for tilt/telescopic steering. I assume a percentage for the power steering as well. Just a great buy in today's market.
PLEASE EXCUSE THE WIND SOUND IN MY VIDEO AS IT WAS VERY COLD AND WINDY WHEN I DID THE VIDEO. As with all of the cars that I sell on eBay, the easiest way for a prospective buyer to get a sense for my cars is with tons of information and loads of photos and a video. Feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them and respond ASAP. Here is the link to the video: IMG 5873 - YouTube Video will open in a new window

Exterior: As you can see by the photos and videos, the paint is not perfect. There are areas on the hood that were going to be fixed by the previous owner but were not. The rear bumper looks very good. The T-tops are good and do not rattle or leak to my knowledge. Doors open and close fine.
Interior: The interior is in good condition with a small rip in the driver's bottom seat. Carpet and door panels are good. The dash has no warping or cracks. Tilt/telescopic steering wheel is functional. The center console and gauge surround looks good. Factory belts are present. Door locks and windows are in good working order. All gauges are working with the exception of the oil gauge. (Could just be the sending unit.) Radio and clock are not working. Heater, wipers and horn (aftermarket horn button under dash) are working. Engine: The original engine starts and runs fine. The original air cleaner, valve covers and distributer surround are included. The intake manifold, exhaust manifolds and alternator appear to be original.
Transmission: The original turbo 400 transmission shifts up and down through the gears as it should. Undercarriage: The undercarriage is good and appears to be free from any major signs of rust or rot. Look at the extensive undercarriage photos which will display the undercarriage condition better than any description that I can conger up. ID Photos:

FYI:There is no Maine title for this 1973 Corvette Stingray as Maine does not issue titles for vehicles that are more than (15) years old. I have sold cars all over the country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands and have never had a problem. The car will come with a Bill-of-Sale, the Maine Registration signed over to the new owner and a copy of the Maine law regarding titles which is on a form issued by the Maine Motor Vehicle Department
