Description of 1988 Chevrolet Blazer Silverado |
Hi Thanks for checking out my K5, one of 28,446 produced in 1988. This Blazer has the removable hard top, it is the second year of factory throttle body fuel injection, it has the standard Chevy 350 V8 5.7L motor, factory power steering, factory power brakes, factory power windows, factory power door locks, and factory A/C. I had been looking for one of these for myself about 5 years before I found this gem. Its really tough to find a California only Blazer that has not been in a rusty area like the Midwest or East Coast, or that has not been hacked and cutup. Since I owned her she has been just sitting inside my garage covered up with a top of the line Cover King Auto Body Armor $750 cover, next to my FJ40 Land Cruiser and Military truck and other toys. I feel bad that she isn't getting used and is just rotting away. I think its time I say goodbye and let her go to her next home. I really doubt you will ever find one this nice and in this condition without paying some asinine amount. I put a ridiculously low reserve price so you know the last bidder will end up owning my K5, so please don't ask me what the reserve is just bid it and see for yourself when you own it. I will also attach a current NADA guide so you can see retail values based on condition. Please keep in mind that any guides whether NADA, Black Book, Kelly etc are merely "subjective opinions." These market guides don't always take fully into account market scarcity (how many are for sale), rarity, geographic location, number of owners, title history etc. The silver re-paint is nearly perfect, its deep silver with lots of clear. There is some over-spray on the the rubber seal around the removable top and on the door latches inside the door jambs other than that this is a nice paint job. The chrome bumper trim is just unbelievable, the grill and the rest of the trim is impeccable, the interior is super nice, its not perfect, but is super nice, there are some minimal stains on the floor carpet and small scratches on the top right of the dash. The seats look and feel like they did in 1988, door panels and door trim are all in amazing shape. Rear tailgate still looks new from the re-paint. Overall condition is in very good to excellent condition in my opinion. I bought this April 2015 from Alexander Buick GMC a Southern California dealer at a dealer only auction in Southern California. I am a dealer by trade and I look for hard to find vehicles and specialize in building Jeeps, trucks and off-road vehicles. You can see for yourself on on our site theautolocators DOT com. I decided in 2015 to keep this K5 for myself once I got it to the dealership because it is that nice! I purchased this with 77,537 miles reported on the odometer, today it has 77,671 reported odo miles. I mainly used this as a Sunday cruiser to go to the local Yucaipa regional park to fish and local family functions. Keep in mind this is a 5 digit odo. I will attach a Carfax Report showing there is no accident damage reported and that this was a California vehicle its entire life with documented Carfax service history showing California only. The Carfax showed mileage of 75k in 1995 so my guess is the odo rolled over once. I don't know if the motor or trans were ever replaced or rebuilt. I did have all the fluids changed when I first bought it and everything looked great then and now. The K5 fires up perfect every time no smoke on startup, no weird noises even after months of sitting. There are no lazy shifts, 4x4 works great with the NP208 even the 4x4 light on dash works when engaged in 4H or 4L. Very minimal oil leaks underneath surprisingly for sitting relatively idle for the past three and a half years during my ownership. We replaced the tail-shaft seal going to the factory GM 10 bolt rear axle, there is also a new AC compressor and receiver dryer, brand new Interstate battery with a quick battery disconnect for those long periods of storage, new rebuilt rear window motor, new rear window switch OEM. I changed the interior lights to LED so its not so dim. It does have an old Viper alarm period correct, I use the Viper for remote door lock and unlock so as not to use the key to scratch the door. The alarm is in valet mode so its doesn't go off every time a loud noise spooks her. It does have the steering collar lock to help slow down would be thieves. The door lock caps are removed too so its hard to "fish" to unlock again for would-be thieves. Modifications are a Rancho Suspension lift with new dual steering stabilizers, 35x12.50x20 Lexani MT tires still like new on 20 inch Moto Metal chrome wheels, True dual exhaust from the flow-master muffler back and both pipes exit right behind both rear tires. It has an awesome rumble when its idling and even when cruising down the street but its not obnoxious. Freeway driving is super nice and smooth shockingly. I took it on the freeway for the first time ever recently. I noticed the speedometer is off by approx 7 MPH at 65 MPH. The 700R4 - four speed transmission with overdrive does great at freeway driving and when selected in "D" drive around town its perfect. She passed smog with flying colors after I replaced the original EGR valve and the fuel filter. I will post the dyno results/smog so you can see the low emissions levels and how efficient the vehicle is running according to HC, NO, CO. Obviously if a 30 year old vehicle passes California's stringent smog it will be fine for any other states. I am selling this through my Dealership Auto Locators, even though its my personal vehicle. We've been in business since 2002 and have a slew of positive reviews from Facebook, Ebay, Google, Yelp etc. If you purchase this vehicle from me in California you will have to pay registration and sales tax determined by your street address and zip code.
