Description of 1974 Chevrolet Nova SS, 350, tach, posi, bucket seats, survivor! |
No-reserve auction. Bid to buy! 1974 Chevrolet Nova SS. Original paint, factory 350 motor, turbo 350 transmission, 10 bolt posi traction, factory tach & gauges with bucket seats and center console. This Nova came from the estate of the original owner. The most recent registration and insurance cards were from 1998. The car has been parked for 20 years. The Nova runs and drives surprisingly well for an unrestored 40+ year old car. The 350 motor runs strong and has good power. The engine is a 1972 350 motor with a Holley carburetor. The original, number's matching, 350 motor is out of the car but comes with the sale. The original motor has the VIN stamped on it as well as the correct usage code. It is still wearing the correct Rochester carburetor. The transmission shifts properly. The posi traction works well. The original owner put headers on the Nova. He switched out the original 1974 rally wheels for the ones shown in the pictures. I do have the original set of rally wheels and they also come with the sale. The original "space saver" spare tire is still intact. The tires are severely weather checked and go flat over time. They are not safe to drive on. The Nova has a fair bit of surface rust in places. Again this is an original paint car and nothing has been done to hide any imperfections. You can see from the pictures there is a small bit of rust at the bottoms of each front fender. There is also rust in each rear wheel lip opening. There is some rust on the rear tail light panel. The leading edge of the hood behind the front trim is also rusty. The bottom side of the Nova looks very solid. The front passenger floorboard is starting to show some rust spots. The Seattle area rarely gets snow and salt is not used on the roads, but the Nova did sit outside uncovered for 20 years in the rain. The Chevy is very solid, but there is typical rust for a 40+ year old unrestored car. The odometer shows 77k miles. The tach and gauges all work. The speedometer works. All of the exterior lights work including turn signals and brake lights. The Nova starts right up and runs and drives well. The brakes are a bit spongy and do need attention, but they do work. With some very minor tinkering and some good tires the nova could be driven in its current state. You might not win any beauty awards but it's still a very cool Nova SS. The paint is code 75 medium red. The Nova came with a black half vinyl top. The top has almost completely come off over the years. The vinyl top stainless trim is still on the car. There is a light patina on the roof but no rust holes. The nova has the factory black paint accents around the window openings to offset the red paint. The Nova is still wearing most of the original stripes and decals. This is an original paint car. The cowl tag decodes as follows:74 = 19741XY17 = nova custom hatchbackL = Van Nuys California assembly plant754 = black perforated vinyl interiorA51 = bucket seats75 = paint code medium red (solid color, non metallic)B = black vinyl top05B = built 2nd week of May 1974. The interior is all original but showing its age. The front bucket seats are both ripped. The rear seat is intact. The headliner is sagging in numerous spots. The carpet is original but very thin in spots and in poor condition. The factory rear defrost works! The original AM/FM radio doesn't make any noise. The dash pad does have a crack in it center dash. The Nova is located approximately 1 hour south of Seattle. Prospective buyers are welcome and encouraged to look at the vehicle in person. You can hear it run and test drive it. The Nova has clear Washington State title. The buyer will receive the signed Washington State title, plus a copy of the durable power of attorney from the estate, and a bill of sale. The title is free and clear. Every attempt was made to describe the Nova as accurately as possible. There is no substitute for inspecting the vehicle in person however. What one person considers mint another might consider junk. If you have questions you can contact me at 253 9487756. I'm happy to answer any additional questions about the Nova. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Please be sure you are happy with the vehicle prior to purchase. Returns will not be accepted nor price adjustments made after the fact. Once you own the vehicle is it yours. If you aren't serious about purchasing the Nova then please don't bid. I've already had to report one deadbeat winning bidder to Ebay. Thanks! |
