Just in time for the holidays! For sale is a Red 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z/28 Convertible. General Motors sanctioned a company called Auto Form to do convertible conversions on both Firebirds and Camaros from 1983 to 1986. The conversions were performed at two different facilities: one in Bremen, Indiana and the other in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The conversion took about two weeks at an estimated cost of $5,500. Auto Form worked directly with participating dealerships and did not accept customers off the street. New cars were drop shipped to one of their facilities and then delivered to the dealer for delivery to the customer. Year by year completed conversions is not known but its believed that only around 70 cars received the conversion in 1986. This Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z/28 Convertible is powered by its original 305 CID V8 engine with 4 barrel performance carburetor and is backed by a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission. Car runs great! Chevrolet introduced the IROC Z/28 as an optional package in 1985 which included a lowered ride height with Bilstein shocks, upgraded suspension, larger sway bars and a steering frame brace nicknamed the "Wonder Bar". Options on this Camaro IROC Z/28 Convertible include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with cassette tape, original manual convertible top (great condition), Cruise Control, Power Brakes (4 wheel disc brakes), Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Windows, Seat Belts, and Alloy Wheels (original wheels included - not currently on the car). Speedometer reads 31,000 miles. Third generation Camaros are becoming highly collectible and the IROC-Z is one of the most popular packages out there and coupled with a rare convertible conversion, this one is a winner!
