As the muscle car era was forced into decline in the early 1970's due to rising insurance and fuel prices the public thirst for sporty American cars never wavered. To satisfy this demand the Laguna was introduced as a replacement for the recently discontinued Chevelle SS series. The sporty two-door coupe was an immediate success both on the street as well as on the high banks of the NASCAR circuit. The Laguna Type S-3 was smooth in every direction and sported a new aerodynamically styled soft urethane front end, 15-inch rally wheels, dual sport mirrors and louvered coach windows. It also came standard with special shocks and front and rear stabilizer bars as well as steel-belted tires to complement the radial tuned suspension. This Dark Red Poly Laguna is in great shape with a recent repaint as well as new upholstery, carpeting and weather stripping. Power comes from a period correct 400 cubic-inch V8 with Edelbrock intake manifold and four-barrel carburetor connected to a three-speed automatic transmission. The interior is loaded with standard and optional features like the popular Strato-Bucket swivel seats, tachometer, tilt steering, center console and power windows.
