Description of 1970 Chevrolet Camaro |
This is a One Owner. 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport that has been thru a complete (Frame Off) Resto-Mod. It was originally purchased (in 1970) as a Camaro Rally Sport with a 350 ci V8 and three speed automatic transmission. but has since been modified from its “Original Purchase” configuration. It has been a California (SF Bay Area) daily driver for its entire history and has never been involved in a collision or been subjected to rough treatment or abuse. During its restoration. the body. frame and suspension parts were blasted and either powder coated or painted with epoxy coatings. All suspension and steering joints were replaced and equipped with upgraded bushings. grommets and seals. The interior was completely re done including Leather Seats. new carpeting. headliner and seat belts (Lap Only) and dash. All interior shell surfaces were treated with “Lizard Skin” thermal and sound protection coatings. The electrical system was completely rewired including an upgraded fuse box as well as color coded and labeled wires. Power door locks. power windows. and an alarm system that is integrated with a fuel system interlock (for theft protection). were also added. The instrument cluster was upgraded and includes a Tachometer. Electronic Speedometer. Coolant Temp Gauge. Volt Meter. Oil Pressure Gauge. Fuel Gauge and Fuel Pressure Gauge. All the instruments are electric and from the Auto Meter “Phantom” series. The sound system was upgraded and includes a modern AM/FM radio (designed to look like the original). integrated with a trunk mounted CD Changer and Amp which includes an Inside remote Bass control. The radio is also capable of accepting Micro USB and is wired for Sirius Radio (the vehicle does not include a Sirius subscription or receiving head). The Original power plant was replaced with a Factory new (5. 7 liter H. O. ) ZZ4 (Aluminum Head) engine that Dyno’d on the stand at 420 Ft Lbs and 419 Hp. It Includes an “Edelbrock / Magnetti Marelli” “Pro Flo” Multi-Port Electronic Fuel Injection System as well as an LT4 Cam (with 1. 6 Roller Rockers) and Mallory Ignition. It runs very strong on the street. yet still idles well and sounds great at the lights. The Fuel Injection / ignition system computer is capable of storing three distinct engine “personalities” that can be selected “On The Fly” as needed. Injector timing. ignition timing and timing curves. fuel mixture and many more critical settings may be set and stored in three complete and distinct configurations. then accessed and employed at any time by a simple selection. It’s great for “daily driving” in a lower power (economical) gas saving mode. but can be switched to a more “aggressive configuration” by simply pushing a button on the hand held console. You don’t have to hook up a laptop. raise the hood or even shut the engine off. The exhaust system is a pair of “Doug’s Headers” bolted to a 2. 5 inch Flow Master system with added additional “Resonators”. The original automatic transmission was replaced with a 6 speed Richmond Gear (ROD). It has 4 gears under. 1 even and 1 over. The 4 under gears ratios were each selected to compliment the Torque Curves of the engine and produce a great close ratio transition during power acceleration. The Over Drive results in a relatively economical 1750 RPM at 70 MPH. It has a “Long” shifter and linkage. The differential is the original 2:72 Chevy 9 bolt. It has been rebuilt and resealed. The braking system was upgraded from 2 wheel disc to 4 wheel disc using a Stainless Steel Brake upgrade kit. While the glass is in good shape all around (no breaks. cracks or chips). the door windows are showing some scratches and should be replaced. The sale of this vehicle will include a set of door windows (shipped “uninstalled” with the car). While I hate to part with the car that I bought when I was 21. I guess I’m finally out growing it. I still drive it to the Mid Week Car show during the summer months. but it’s not being driven as it should and needs to be. I guess it’s time for someone else to enjoy it as I have. My goal is to find this car a good home with a person who will enjoy both driving it and maintaining it. To that end. I will tell you (to the best of my knowledge) about the condition of any of the systems or parts on the car. With that said. It’s important to note that this is a 45 year old “Used Vehicle” and I’m selling it “Where Is and As Is”. I am not supplying any warranty. either expressed or implied. If you are a serious bidder/buyer and would like more information. please feel free to contact me via email. I will be happy to provide any additional facts or photo’s you might need to help in making your decision. If you’re not interested in buying. but simply interested in “discussing the technical’s”. I would love to discuss them with you. but please don’t make that part of this “sale conversation”. If you are “Local” to the Bay Area and would like to inspect it first hand. I will be happy to set up a time and place to meet and show it to you. Best of luck in your bidding. |
