Description of 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle ORIGINAL LS6 ENGINE-SHOWROOM READY- NOT A DRIVER-

What I have for sale is my LS6 Chevelle convertible that I just completed a total frame off restoration on. No expense was spared on any part of this restoration. I did all the body work on this car myself including the reassembly process and the restoring of all the smaller parts of the whole car. The car has now 8 test miles since the completion of the restoration in 2015 and runs out beautifully down the road. The car was restored to keep its originality in appearance as like when it was brand new. I have restored many 1970 SS Chevelles and have done a lot of research on them. The car was completely stripped down till the last bolt and screw were out. The original frame was sandblasted with all of its suspension and F41 component's. Everything was then repainted or recoated before reassembly. BODY: The body has had all new panels using best quality parts on the market. 100% complete full floors. 100% full rear quarters. new door skins. new hood and fenders. All the panel jams have gaps as good or better than new. Rechromed original bumpers. The power convertible top frame is original and was restored with a brand new top. All new spiral shocks. T3 head lights. all new brakes. correct new exhaust with resonators and correct tips. New gas tank w/sender. new marker lights and tail lights. all trim is brand new or polished and restored like new. All brand new interior . eat foam and carpet. Nice original stereo dash pad. Working AM radio. working cigarette lighter. original console with correct shifter handle and chrome ball. All new date coded glass . If it didn't look brand new I made it look brand new or replaced it. Wheels are the original date coded AO wheels with correct F-70-14 Bias Firestone Wide oval tires not to exclude the spare. Transmission is the correct 1970 C coded M22 Muncie. Rear end is the correct 1970 331 ratio12 bolt posi. Correct 4 core radiator and radiator support. Correct Big Block steering shaft. Correct big block springs. All correct double groove pulleys. 100837 alternator. 111437 distributor. Complete smog pump set up. correct exhaust manifolds. Correct 6500 3 screw tach and all live gauges. Power top-Power steering- Power Disc brakes-Original F41 suspension. Engine: The block is the original along with the 4557 780 Holley . 964291 heads and 3963569 intake manifold. MAGIZINE : I just received a good question from a man about the quality of the work on the car. This is what I can tell you about the quality of the work. coupe from me in 2010. He has been keeping me informed on the points judging car shows he has participated in. The magazine with the Chevelle on the cover is the car I sold Bob. The picture of the black coupe by the Church is me with the car I sold Bob that's on the cover of the magazine in 2010. Below is a email from Bob T. from Columbus In. that he purchased a 1970 SS Chevelle from me in October 2010 Hi Dan. nbsp; Just wanted to send you a note and let you know that the black '70 Chevelle that I bought from you in Oct. 2010. has been selected for an Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA). 2014 NATIONAL AWARD. They nominate 300 cars out of 3500+ cars that show at their events each year. for a National Award. then out of those 300. they select 48 of the BEST ones to receive a National Award. I just got the letter this past week and the award will be presented in Philadelphia on Valentine's Day. 2015. at a "Black Tie Banquet". I have won 2 BEST ENGINE TRAILERED RESTORED awards with the car and scored a 989 and a 995 out of 1. 00 possible points. With the AACA shows. the car was judged once and scored 400 out of 400. That is why they nominated it for a National Award. and it was chosen by the National Judges as a recipient of that award. Just thought you would be interested in knowing this info. ENGINE Authenticity: This car has its original matching numbers CRV 4 speed LS6 Chevelle convertible engine . Take a look at the block stamping in the pictures. The engine was inspected by 2 different professionals in 2014. At the time of the inspection in 2014 it has never had any machine work done to the block since it was installed in the car brand new in 1970. Never been decked or even bored out with a standard bore. The engine was recently rebuilt and was just bored . 030 over. Never decked. I have only restored1970 Chevelles for the last 30 years. I have done extensive research on the subject of the 1970 Chevelle engine and stampings so I will have the knowledge to tell if a block is original or not to a Chevelle. This helps me to determine the value of the car . This engine was stamped at the Kansas plant with the vin numbers only. The CRV code and assembly date of the engine is stamped at the assembly plant in Tonawanda Ny. Kansas had its own special sized and shaped 3/16th inch fonts when they stamped the engine in the factory assembly line after they knew what car it was going to go in . The Kansas fonts were completely different from the 5 other U. S. 1970 Chevelle assembly plants including Arlington TX. Flint MI. . Atlanta Ga. Baltimore Md. and Van Nuys Ca. These 5 plants used 1/8 inch fonts. Kansas also stamped there numbers upside down in 1970. The 1970 Kansas fonts were special made fonts just for GM and were not used any place else. They were the same height but different width and have most had a slightly different shape in general than a average 3/16th font. The 3/16th upside down vin stamping at the Kansas plant was also only used in the later 1970 and the 1971 time frame. Another tattle tale sign to tell the stamping is the original is the end of the vin is lightly double stamped. This was also something that only happened in a certain time frame in 1970 at the Kansas plant. I have found other 1970 big block Chevelle Kansas engines with the same double stamp in the same time frame. It would have to be done with the same gang holder and even the same person in the way they were holding the gang stamp and just the same angle and hitting it. This person in the line would just have 1 job to be stamping the engine blocks as they came down the assembly line. And over time they would hit the block exactly the say way over and over and over. They would slightly turn there wrist when the hammer double taped the gang holder and it came back down only double stamping the end numbers as they were pulling away. I do have a signed and notarized written statement from a reliable engine rebuilding business that the engine stamp is the original and the engine had never had any machine work done in prior to my purchase of the car. At that time the block was rebuilt it was only bored to . 030 over and no more machining was done to the block. The original block is 1 of most important key points to determine what a car is. Just like paper work. If I sell the car I will also sign and notarize a statement of the originality of the block .
