Description of 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 |
Ok so here she is. Up for offer is a dream car, a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 Door Hard Top. The story begins like this. My dad bought this car in 1989 which would put me about 14 years old. Well he worked a lot and went through a divorce so once it stopped running it has been sitting in his garage until about 2 years ago when he sold his house. He always wanted to restore it and would always take me to swap meets looking for anything related to the car really. He always talked about how rare they were and considered this car the flagship of all Chevys.Yada Yada... So about the car, as stated it was running probably 3-4 years when we got it and my dad swears the problem was most likely in the fuel lines somewhere because he said he could keep it running off a gas can and hose but couldn't get the carb to pull from the tank. I can turn the fan housing by hand slightly back and forth so she's not locked up. I do believe this is the original 8 cylinder engine, looks like the tranny is 4 on the floor? This was before my time, but everything else seems all original. The main and only reason I am letting this car go is due to the fact that the Texas weather is starting to cause surface rust to set in. And I now 41, work a lot and have 3 children and no garage space, time, money etc. to restore and repair. I will not just let the car rot away, someone will do right by this car and share it's beauty with the world I am sure. Saddens me to see her go but this is what's right. Condition:1) The body is straight minus a small section towards the rear bumper. See pics2) Like I said even with a Tarp surface rust is setting in. I hand sanded a few spots to the metal, which I will hit with primer and I am no body repair expert but it should be an easy fix. The rest will be for the restorer. There is a few spots near the floor pan where your feet go that may need filler or rework, in other word there are small holes from the rust. See pics.3) Everything in the pictures is included, I have not tried to snap in all the chrome trim pieces but it appears they are all there although I cannot make any guarantees. I'll let the rebuilder do the rebuilding.4) Extra parts will be included almost 10 Holley carburetors corvette intake 454 heads brake master cylinder - may be for this car, not sure I will post pictures of all the swap meet parts soon. I need these gone also so enjoy. This is basically parts my dad accumulated over the years from swap meets so some of them go to this car, some may be for a 350 or 4545) All the glass is there6) Front seats there, rear seats missing7) Undercarriage pictures were taken with flash on so it looks worse than it is I'm sure.8) Dash has some custom art?9) I will answer any and all questions and will post more pics as I can. I just wanted to have the auction live.I'm sure I will get bombarded so get them in as soon as you can and try not to wait until the last 10 minutes as I may not be able to help by then. Clean Texas Title In Hand! No Reserve. Good luck everybody. |
