Tons of classic awesomeness via a thoroughly refreshed authentic appearance, with a novel design thrown into the mix. This 1960 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top would be an undeniable force to be reckoned with on the local car show circuit - not just as a participant but as a viable ribbon-winner - and its potent, period-correct drivetrain makes it a real kick to drive. This classic is sure to create plenty of double takes as it cruises... by. While vintage Impala sightings aren't all that common to begin with, to come across one from this era with such a distinctive design and in such a stellar state is downright rare. After all, those curved pillars and the dramatically curved windshield - the origin for the bubbletop moniker - were only around for a few years and the vast majority have long since fallen by the wayside. This '60 carries on the tradition in style, with its almost entirely stock appearance, vibrant, glassy red paint and an array of brightwork that's in solid condition - a little polishing will have it looking in top shape. The uniquely designed roof really puts the front and back windshields on full display and both here are very much ready for their closeup - like the rest of the glass surrounding the cabin, they're crystal clear. There are just so many other outstanding stylistic touches on this classic Chevy - those long strips of chrome running the lengths of the sides, the contrasting off-white accents and the horizontally positioned tail fins are just a few of them. The eye-catching red interior has been fully restored while remaining almost entirely in period correct configuration and does it ever look great! There's an impressive attention to detail on display here - both the front and rear bench seats sport precisely fitted covers and tie in perfectly with the red and white door trim to each side, the manual window cranks are spotless, the roof liner is nice and snug and the fresh red carpeting is punctuated with a pair of Impala-branded floor mats up front. A generously sized steering wheel sits on the column, while the factory style gauges in the instrument panel sport clear lenses as they sit in their futuristic bezels, surrounded by the glossy red paint that covers the rest of the dash area. The textured chrome spanning the width of the cabin is in mint condition and at its center, a trio of aftermarket gauges have been added to monitor oil pressure, temperature and amperage. There's one exceptionally tidy engine compartment waiting under the hood, at the center of which is a period correct 348 cubic inch V8, fed by Chevy's heralded tri-power carburetion system from the era, made up of three 2-barrel Rochester carbs. Its block and valve covers wear proper Chevy orange and look awesome surrounded by the black of the inner wheel wells, fan shroud and firewall. The powerplant is adjusted properly and is running in top form, teaming with a 4-speed manual transmission navigated by the Hurst shifter inside the cabin to provide an outstanding vintage driving experience. An HEI ignition has also been added to heat up the available spark. Power steering makes this lengthy Chevy easy to handle, while a set of 14" factory wheels dressed in whitewall tires adds just the right finishing touch. Below, the undercarriage appears to be in very solid shape. Its unique design was only offered for a short time, and the freshly restored appearance and strong running condition of this 1960 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top make it a standout. Call today!
