For more than a century, Texas Longhorn athletics has been among the most successful programs in all of the collegiate ranks. This 1971 Chevrolet C10 has been skillfully modded to pay tribute to that historic institution - from its tasteful exterior badging to its well-constructed, one of a kind interior. It runs and drives great and stands ready to attract attention wherever it may travel - you'd certainly get plenty of approving nods rolling up to a Longhorn football game... behind the wheel of this sharp looking ride. The Prowler Orange paint draped over the exterior is stare-worthy in its own right. It's a striking color and offers a smooth texture from front to back to combine with a strong shine. The Longhorn badging on the front fenders is distinctive yet not over the top and features a flowing script font that you'll notice right away. Both the front and rear bumpers have a fresh appearance that suggests they were recently added and the front grille features blackened headlight casings to either side of its sharp blue Chevy bowtie. The body lines are very strong on this classic truck - the doors and hood sit flush, are surrounded by nice even gaps and open and close smoothly. Clear, unblemished glass is in place on all sides of the cab and is surrounded by fresh rubber seals. The modified, close set exhaust tips in back really added a nice, distinctive look. You'll find plenty of welcome surprises inside, starting with a custom upholstered, two-tone bench seat bearing the signature Longhorn logo at its center. Look closer and you'll see that not only does the dark foundations of the seating and door panels to each side mimick the color of a football, but they're actually constructed of football leather and are contrasted by lighter vinyl accents. Below, the carpeting is punctuated with a pair of Texas Longhorn floor mats, while above the custom branded headliner is a definite conversation piece and is very well-fitted. The dash area has been restored while retaining its original configuration and features an assortment of clear, functional gauges and an AM/FM stereo with iPod connectivity stands by to attend to your audio needs. A modern air conditioning unit has been seamlessly installed to keep everyone inside comfortable as it blows through the factory in-dash vents. The bed area in back is well-protected by a spray on bed liner - it appears to have done its job well, as there are no glaring scuffs or other damage from shifting cargo in sight. Whether you're driving to a Longhorn athletic event or anywhere else, the road-readiness of this vintage Chevy is a welcome benefit. A 350 cubic inch V8 sits in the center of a nicely detailed engine compartment, armed with an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carb just underneath its properly branded air cleaner. This truck tracks straight and true, with no noticeable pulling and a nice ride and its power brakes - featuring discs up front - are in good order as well to provide prompt, fade resistant stops. A 4-speed 700r4 transmission sits in back of the engine, so you'll also have the benefit of an overdrive gear to keep RPMs down at highway speeds as this great looking pickup rolls on its set of 15" steel wheels wrapped with Antares tires that still carry plenty of tread. Running strong and featuring a host of great custom touches, this 1971 Chevrolet C10 would be the perfect score for the ardent Longhorn fan, as well the classic truck enthusiast with an appreciation for tasteful customization.
