Chevy's first generation Chevelle acts as an attention magnet sure to draw admirers, but it's the very solid road-readiness of this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu that really sets it apart from the crowd. It occupies select company, in that its impressive originality comes at no cost to functionality - this classic is ready to hit the asphalt right away. Still wearing the same Nantucket Blue color it emerged with more than a half century ago, the... appealing, squared off form and overall clean condition will draw you in right away. It's had the good fortune to have spent a large part of its lifetime serving just one family and, from all appearances, it was treated with care during that time. The paint received a freshening up a while back and still offers a strong shine with no noticeable dents or dings to be found. There's a chrome accented Super Sport hood in place and pretty much everything on board remains in factory configuration, down to the fresh side mirrors mounted on the doors. The collection of badging is still sharp and the bumpers in both front and back are solid and level - they're more than presentable just as they are, but a trip to the re-plating shop will really make them come alive. With that signature shade of blue looming over fresh rubber footing, this is one vibrant, capable-looking classic. The vinyl interior also wears its original color and retains an almost entirely factory configuration while looking fresh. The bench seats in both front and back are in great shape - ready for many miles' worth of future outings - and sit over an expanse of blue carpeting that's in equally strong condition. On both sides, the door panels are flush and well-fitted - always a welcome sight since they often seem to be among the first areas to show age and use. A period correct steering wheel sits on its column, featuring a functional horn no less, while farther forward the factory gauges are protected by a very clear lens, are all in good working order and are surrounded by factory-correct woodgrain accents and still-fresh chrome trim. An aftermarket AM/FM/cassette stereo, also functional, is about the only deviation from stock inside the cabin. The spacious trunk area appears solid as well - with no fabric lining the floor you can get a good view and see that everything inside is in good order, with just a bit of easily remedied surface discoloration from age. The 327 cubic inch V8 standing by under the hood is arguably Chevy's most coveted small block powerplant of its era. It sits in a nicely detailed compartment, outfitted with GM double hump heads and a 4-barrel carb to maximize its output, while wearing a very clean Edelbrock chrome air cleaner on top. Everything surrounding it appears to have been well maintained - there's no grime buildup anywhere in sight and all hoses and wiring look fresh. The powerplant sends a nice, rumbling note out of its Flowmaster mufflers and pairs with a 4-speed automatic 700r4 to afford engine sparing low revs at highway speeds and is shifting smoothly. Power steering makes this vintage muscle car easy to drive, while power brakes that feature discs up front offer fade-resistant stops as it cruises on a set of 15" Chevrolet wheels that are in great shape and wear Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires with plenty of tread remaining. First generation Chevelles are hard to come by, especially when they're sporting the undeniable curb appeal and rock solid running condition of this 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. Call today!
