Description of 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 |
Here is a 1986 Camaro Z28 with 86,155 original miles. Restoration was just completed on Memorial Day weekend. The new paint that was professionally done and wet sanded and buffed is a custom red that as you can see, is stunning. The original 305 V8 starts right up every time and runs great, and the 700R4 transmission shifts perfectly. A new Hooker Aerochamber catback exhaust was installed during restoration and sounds great. The factory A/C works and was professionally leak tested before restoration began but may need a recharge from sitting during the restoration process. The entire underside of the car was coated in a rubberized sound-deadening material to drastically reduce road noise. Every single interior panel has been dynomatted as well as a sound blanket laid in the trunk area under the carpet, so the car is nearly silent when the windows are up with less road noise than most new cars. Every piece of interior has been replaced including brand new carpet, dash, and door panels. The headliner is also new. The seats are recently reupholstered. All red interior plastic panels are from a '92 Camaro which came with a brighter red to more correctly match the new paint. The push-button shift knob has been replaced with a Z28 engraved ball and new leather boot. The power windows work as they should. All original gauges work, and a vehicle-specific A-Pillar gauge pod has been installed with water temperature, oil pressure, and voltage gauges. The stereo is made up of a nice Bluetooth head unit, JBL GTO series speakers in the dash, Kicker 11KS69 Coaxial speakers in the rear Sail Panels, and 2 Rockford Fosgate 10" P2 Punch subs all powered by a more than capable Power Acoustik GT5 2500w amp. All this makes the system one of the best sounding stereos you'll find. The ugly rear hatch with the 3rd brake light that only came on the '86 Camaros was replaced with the glass from an '85 and looks much better. Even the black plastic-capped bolts that hold the glass to the hinges and are almost always cracked or rusted on these cars have been replaced. The electric pull-down motor and housing for the rear hatch has been completely replaced and works great. The entire t-top frame was removed during the painting process, repainted in gloss black, and reinstalled with all new seals to prevent leaking like t-top cars are notorious for. Every piece of weather stripping and rubber on the car has been replaced. Every light bulb has been replaced with brighter and more efficient LEDs including dome light, side marker lights, brake and reverse lights, and color switching front turn signals that glow white when used as running/fog lights but switch to Amber when used as turn signals. The headlights are Dapper Lighting brand HIDs with halos and are not cheap. The wimpy original horn was replaced with a multiple trumpet system from a new car that will definitely make you noticed when you need to be. The 18" replica Iroc wheels are brand new and flawless, as well as the tires which were purchased on May 25th and still have the stickers on them as you can see in the pictures. The car also comes with a new pair of front struts still in the box, and the original 15" wheels with center caps can be included for an extra price if requested. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping and associated costs. The car is also for sale locally, and I have the right to terminate the auction in favor of a local buyer.
