Retrofitting & More! Vehicle Background ˜2 owners˜ Original owner had it in the family for over 10+ years. It was a racing Chevy. Then. it was passed on to the oldest male in the family. This male needed to make a quick buck. but wanted the vehicle to go to a person that cared about the vehicle. Which is how I became the second owner. . at that point the car was probably 35% restored and driveable. as the only changes the original owner made were cosmetic. So. . to get an idea. Short Synopsis of Changes How The Vehicle Came to Me Changes Made Since Then Unmaintained Custom Paint Job Rebuilt Most Items Under the Hood Leather Interior Replaced Window Door Handles CD player in Original Dash Replaced Steering Wheel Unmaintained Chrome Rims Added Interior Gauges In no way shape or form did the original owner do a disservice to the vehicle. However. it was not a priority therefore. while the vehicle was maintained. it was not well maintained. Detailed Changes I would say that all the changes I have made since purchasing the vehicle have been internal. I have restored the vehicle to 65% from the 35% I received it. This Car's Story I purchased the car. It ran decently for 4 months. The engine was beginning to sling a rod So. coming from a family of mechanics. I put it in the family garage and did the following: 1. Removed engine and rebuilt it . by disposing of a majority of it. Acquiring a 70's Chevrolet engine with 60. 00 miles. Used the parts and rebuilt the engine entirely. & then painted engine. 2. Flushed out transmission 3. Reharnessed the exhaust system 4. Then replaced/added: New gaskets New Holly Headers New carburetor New Distributer & Cap New Air Filter Upon doing that. the car was fuctional. My concern has always been functionality. Please note the pictures of the dashboard. cd player. door speakers. and rear seat speakers. For some reason. a sound system was so important to the original owner that it had to wreck the original Chevrolet dashboard. It came to me that way and was the next thing to fix. Two things I intended to fix next: 1. The aforementioned sound system and wires 2. The heater core (I have all the parts for the heater core. just not installed) So after I. the SECOND owner. replaced what was under the hood. I took it for one drive to Atlanta. GA in 2014 (which is where I get the rough estimate of miles) It was then only driven on the weekends. until 8 months ago (August). Wherein I removed the battery and stored it. If you've made it this far. here's what you need to know is needing fixing: 1. New Paint Job (To fix 3 rust spots) 2. Purchase new dashboard (to fix cd player placement) 3. Replace audio wiring (to make cd player audio work) 4. Install heater core (parts provided) 5. Fix transmission leak 6. Install New Battery (Removed it for storage) OPTIONAL: Replace tires (good tread. but from original owner & since been stored) Let me remind you. Importantly. All you need to do to make this vehicle run: 1. Install a battery 2. Check the transmission fluid level I'm full of information about this vehicle. It's been my project car. I'll happily let it go to someone who wants to make it his/her project. Ask questions. Let me know!
