Description of 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Base

1968 Corvette project with matching number original 327/350+ hp engine and original matching number transmission case, case number 3925660. I never confirmed nor know how to, but was told when I purchased the corvette that it was an M-22 (Rock Crusher) 4 speed transmission and the transmission definitely sounded and behaved like a rock crusher. I do not know the rear gear ratio. Car has manual brakes and steering and no Air Conditioning.
I had bought the car the summer of 2002 with around 78,000 miles on it and it now has 84,310. Absolutely everything was working properly when I started to dismantle it.Due to impending health problems in the fall of 2004 I decided to do a frame-off restoration and modernizing of the vette and I managed to pull the motor and some other items from under the hood, I removed the wheels and placed the car up on blocks in a part of the yard that never has laying water and good drainage to help me not have to bend over as much to remove the interior and to have access underneath for removing the seats etc.. I managed to remove the seat backs, of which one or both had cracks, I do not remember exactly and they are stored in my basement along with the engine block and all other parts that go with the corvette.
I removed the driver side visor, rear window lower trim, the roof trim piece above the passenger seat behind the t-top, passenger door entry trim and passenger door panel before my body stopped me while removing the last screw attaching the right-side visor.I did not touch the car again until the fall of 2016 when my son took it off the blocks and put newer Camaro wheels on the car so that we could move it for a sewage project. The camaro wheels would not mount over the calipers so we pulled those and they are included. I never confirmed if a spare is in the carrier but I was told that it was.
The paint has faded and peeled a lot while sitting. The carpet also faded a good bit. I had forgotten that I had started to remove the removable rear window locking parts and wetness managed to get into the car and has messed up the 3 box tops located behind the seats.
I had planned to modernize a lot of the car including the engine so I did allow someone to buy the original wheels, tail light lenses, radiator and shroud, cooling fan, water pump, pistons with rods (which were std.), oil pan and pump, heads, distributor and cover pieces and intake complete with it's carb air cleaner etc..
I do have the matching number block with original crank, bearing caps, pressure plate, starter and a replacement alternator with cheesy chrome mount. I did buy a rear spring from a wrecked show car with 6,000 miles on it and some other parts before I started to dismantle the car that will all go with the car. I have all the other parts that I had already removed from under the hood when I pulled the engine that also will go with the car. While taking pictures I came to find that someone had helped themselves to the fuel cap and now the tank is rusty inside.
Also, people managed to mess up the doors while it was sitting, the passenger side will not latch closed and is missing the circle shaped chrome piece from around the button and the drivers side will not open. I attempted to roll down the driver's window to attempt to get the door to open but I gave up when it's linkage got hung-up on something, I am thinking the door handle linkage. The passenger door front lower corner area has rotted a good bit while sitting and I can only assume the driver's may have also. I actually was intending on replacing them with better doors with power windows from the get-go. I have the passenger side black plastic headlight cover for when the headlight doors are closed, it had started to fall off so I had removed it while removing the engine.
I bought the car off of the son-in-law of the original West Virginia owner who had put the big block hood on it, headers, Hurst shifter, replaced seat covers and backs, carpet, radio and a few other things as well as repainted it. The only things other than normal wear and tear that were wrong with the car when I bought it, and are still bad or worse are the right front fang-like chrome piece was lightly rusted and now rotted, the box-like metal parts for the body mounts visible through the back wheel openings to the rear were rusted and now rotted apart, one of the metal rods that form an "x" in front of the radiator was and is still broken, there are a scratches in the driver's side wiper arm being the previous owner had mistakenly used too long of a screw in the aluminum vented panel that is located just in front of the wiper door, the rear panel where tailpipes come out had no chrome trim and the cracks in the seat backs.
The car was produced in January of 1968 and was repainted original color and it did come with black interior. I just now decided to give-up on ever being able to get in and out of the car let alone drive it again. Feel free to message with any questions and if you'd like to talk about the car you are welcome to send me a message with your phone number with a time that is good to call.
This is a great project with a solid frame, bird-cage and floor. The body is solid and had one slight horizontal hairline crack in the top of one gill section of the driver's fender that is no worse than it was when I had bought it as well as a light crack at the inner edge of the right rear wheel opening that shows in the picture that shows it and the mount that I referred to as being now rotted. While sitting this past nearly 15 years surface rust has accumulated on most metal surfaces. I have mentioned everything wrong with it as well as everything missing. The hood and the aluminum panel that goes behind the hood are both still not bolted down, all bolts that I had removed will be included.
I am located in Connellsville, Pennsylvania southwest of Pittsburgh. Car is being sold as is where is. The winning bidder can contact me at auction end to arrange payment and pick-up time. Ebay would not let me list without paypal information so I chose the $100 deposit. Balance of payment at pick-up is fine by me being I would rather that the bidder confirm the car is all that I say it is before they pay for it.
