1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

The 1979 Chevrolet Corvette was a much smaller change from the last year. The standard seats are now the lighter weight and taller version that was introduced on the Pace Car in '78. The passenger seat now folds flat to the level of the cargo area. The L82 engine option has a higher lift cam, special heads with larger valves and higher compression, impact-extruded pistons, a forged steel crankshaft, and finned aluminum rocker covers. These improvements added another 10 horsepower to the L82 engine.

A garage kept, resprayed, and redone in most areas with improvements to the engine, this nice example of the 1979 'Vette is reasonably priced, and has a great color combination to boot!

Exterior
Red respray from 1988 covers the good condition fiberglass on this sleek design version. All rounded corners, hidden headlights, and a swept back windshield add to its sporty charm. This model is equipped with removable "T" top smoked glass panels and has code N90 aluminum wheels all around.

Interior
Factory Oyster Cloth buckets were newly installed in 2001, replacing the originals, but matching their color and pattern. They appear in good condition, with little staining, and no rips or tears. New door panels were installed at this time and they present nicely and compliment the buckets. A matching light gray dash houses black gauge clusters, a Corvette cassette radio with new speakers, climate controls to include air conditioning, power windows, power locks, and a toggle to remotely control the rear-view side mirror. A center console is flanked by the bucket seats and has some scratching of paint seen on the sides and top. Faded gray carpet (somewhat greenish cast) is seen on the floors and cargo space.

Drivetrain
An L-82 350ci V8 with a 4-barrel carb. sits in an unrestored but clean engine bay, showing some patina with the passage of time. This engine has new World Product Heads, and is attached to a 4-speed manual transmission.

Undercarriage
Some surface rust and fading is seen but mostly unremarkable. A G84-3.70 Rear, and FE-7 Gymkhana Suspension, as well as 4-wheel independent suspension, and 4-wheel vented disc power brakes can be seen.

With a new alarm replacing the factory alarm which is inoperable, a respray, new interior seating, and various and other repairs and fixes, we have a well running nicely presenting "T" topped version of a Corvette from the curved design years. Starts right up and runs great!
