This 3+3 6 passenger rig is finished in Frost White and looks as it did when it left the Janesville,WI truck plant headed for Southern California 32 years ago. This is a rare truck as Square body Crew Cabs in the 1980s were few and far between and most were base model 2-wheel drive work trucks or tow rigs that 2 decades later are long gone. Very few 4-wheel drive Crew Cab duallys were built, and the few that were went to places that needed 4-wheel drive like Montana or Alaska not sunny Southern California. This truck went from Southern California to the desert near Reno, Nevada where it has lived an easy life in mild climate. Common sense would dictate the supply is limited when it comes to good surviving true 4x4 crew cabs. The top-of-line optional Sierra Classic trim package is the loaded-up version which is the fraternal twin brother to the Chevy Silverado. This truck was ordered with the Blue vinyl and velour seat upholstery. The cab has matching blue carpeting and the upgraded door panels complete with velour inserts, pull straps and carpeted kick panels. The Sierra Classic trim package is finished off with polished dash and instrument inserts as well as steering wheel. Convenience touches include a vanity mirror on the right sunshade and closing assist strap and storage pocket on both front doors. Sierra Classic also has a dome lamp, cigarette lighter (it was the 1980's) illuminated ash tray and door switch's for interior lights. For 1987 this was the top of the line. All the boxes were checked with power windows, power locks, tilt and cruises, sliding rear window deluxe interior options back panel insulation, deluxe cab trim The truck has the optional upgraded #C7A 11,000-LB GVW with the optional G60 Auxiliary rear springs with heavy duty rear sway bar, Camper style mirrors and the upgraded #L19 Electronically Fuel Injected 7.4 Liter 454 Big Block the power is sent to all 6 wheels via the Heavy-Duty Turbo 400 3 speed transmission. Cosmetically this truck is in fantastic condition. The body is straight with no rust. The underneath is exceptionally clean and very solid, not at all typical for a heavy duty 4x4 hauler to look so good underneath after 32 years. The paint shines great and makes this big white whale stand out. There are a few dings and dents here and there typical of a 32 year old truck but overall the body and paint is in great shape. The chrome shines nicely, not to mention all of the trim and polished emblems are still present and in good shape. Step inside this truck and interior matches the condition of the exterior. Starting with the headliner is in good shape. The dash is in good shape with no cracks all of the gauges work. The AC is in/op and the radio is missing. The seats are in great shape with no rips or tears. The carpet is brand new and has no rips or tears. The 4 door panels are all in great shape, the biggest negative are the large custom speakers in the front panels. The power windows work as well as the locks. The windshield does have a crack in it. Overall the interior is in good shape and has not been thrashed. Mechanically is what makes this beast something. This is the heaviest duty truck you could buy from GM, with the biggest motor and heaviest axles. The 454 runs good and will pull your trailer up the hill as fast as it will pull it down pass everything but a gas station, however the 3.73 gear ratio makes driving on the highways much more enjoyable when the motor is not wound up yet still has the low end grunt you need in vehicle like this. The TH400 transmission shifts smooth in all gears. The NP208 shifts into 4x4 fine and the Dana 60/70 axle combo with dual rear wheel will insure you'll never get stuck anywhere. This truck runs and drive as it should, all the lights work and overall is in good mechanical condition.
