Description of 1966 Chevrolet Corvette -- |
This is a well-restored, numbers-matching L79 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. It's such a cool car with its stick-shift, two tops, A/C interior, and side pipes, that it's full appeal is as clear as black and white (literally.) This Sting Ray has an instant distinction. This was given a frame-off restoration in 2010 and has been treated with the right respect ever since. So you get a nice gloss off the factory-correct Ermine White. And when you're a true Corvette fan, you love this color because it was the first color they ever offered. That's why it's great to have it looking so nice here. But there's more distinction here than just the history. The body panels look terrific; the chrome shines brightly; and the details are great, right down to the factory wheel covers. Plus, the black roof gives this the kind of timeless distinction of a tuxedo. And you get it both with the removable hardtop and folding soft top. While you'll love both roof options, we know your real favorite one will be no roof at all. And this convertible keeps its factory-correct black to continue this distinguished look. There was a fine investment inside to make sure this one gives you the classic Corvette feeling. That means a grippy wood-rimmed steering wheel, full gauges with large speedo & tach, and a bright shifter calling out for your right hand. You even have the correct AM/FM radio. But as much of a time capsule this one is, there are also some subtle upgrades. For example, the bucket seats have the correct appearance, but now they have been upgraded to a supple leather. And the upgraded R134a air conditioning is the perfect pairing to keep you cool on a sunny day. The engine bay looks as nice and correct as the rest of the car. That means a bold block, bright distributor shield, and Corvette script valve covers. Plus, you have the numbers-matching 327 cubic-inch V8. This optional L79 motor has a proper Holley four-barrel carburetor and it sits on top of a snowflake intake. It's a smooth runner, and we just know you'll love the rumble from those side pipes. Best of all, you have complete control over the V8 and its powerful soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission (also believed to be original to the car.) While this is a great-looking restoration all-around, including the undercarriage, a Sting Ray like this is meant to be enjoyed on the open road. That's why it has a fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. This is a great restoration that gives you all the right originality and quality upgrades.
