1966 Chevrolet Chevelle The Chevrolet Motor Division began working on an intermediate size automobile in 1960-1961 with delivery to dealers to begin in September 1963. The name of that car was the Corselle. The Corselle design team was sworn to secrecy about this project, and all advertising documents were highly protected by Chevrolet. No Corselle information could even be "leaked" to the media. For consignment a 1966 Chevelle in Malibu trim. This beauty is basically a street legal race car. It has been tubbed out on the rear to accommodate larger rear tires, has beautiful red paint, full original interior, and a performance engine and transmission underneath its unassuming cowl hood. Exterior Custom red with gold metal flake covers this car's steel panels. A cowl hood is noted. Badging and chrome are "decent" using the consigner's words. 15-inch Weld Prostar wheels are nice and clean as well as retaining their shine. These are wrapped by Mickey Thompson sportsman SR tires 215/75R15's on the front, and large 31 x 16.5 x 15's on the rear. Chrome tipped exhaust peeks out either side right in front of the rear tires. Noted is factory tinted glass on all windows. Interior A full factory interior is seen in black vinyl, nice buckets and a bench, no cracks or errors here. The black padded dash is looking good as well, and is factory, but has several additional gauges added, including a tachometer. A full roll cage has been added as well as a Cheetah shifter. Looking in the trunk we note a new fuel cell and battery setup complete with shutoffs. All clean and safe back here, but do not expect to put your luggage back here! Drivetrain A complete blueprinted and balanced BBC 427ci V8 bored over .30 and sonic tested for thickness. New SRP forged pistons, pro comp Scat rods, a forged steel crank, Clevite H bearing, Moroso oil pan with high volume pump, an SFI balancer, Tru double roller, and a new custom comp cam. Also, for performance are Crowler solid roller lifters, a new r valve spring, keepers, roller rockers, new Pro Maxx Aluminum heads, a rare 1968 Corvette 3x2 tri- power manifold and factory Holly carbs professionally restored, and Hedman headers. A professionally built 400 Turbo Trans with a shift kit for automatic and manual shifting operations is attached to the back of this fabulous mill. This includes a Cheetah turbo action shifter and a 4200 stall speed converter. A shortened 12-bolt rear with trac-loc posi unit and 3.73 gears is out back. Light em up! Undercarriage All painted and structurally sound under here with a Chromoly custom built driveshaft utilizing large U-joints, hardened axles, ladder bar suspension with a panhard bar and coil over shocks. Power disc brakes are now adorning all 4 corners. Drive-Ability Our crack decoder snapped up this one as he is a muscle car lover, and to say the least he loved it. Loads of power, unbelievable acceleration, and can also cruise, all be it loudly. Very nice build overall were his comments, as he exited with a smile. As the consigner states correctly, it is a pro-street street legal car. Gobs of time and money were put into the super mill. This car is original in its looks save for the large rear tires, and the shutoff for the battery and charging posts on the rear panel. Interior is original and is now caged for further safety. Also have to love the gold metal flake within the red, very deep.
