1985 Chevrolet El Camino Noun. conquista f (plural conquiste) conquest, seizure, capture. attainment, achievement, breakthrough, gain. catch (A find, in particular a boyfriend or girlfriend or prospective spouse) For consignment a beautifully restored and well-kept El Camino Conquista (meaning to catch or conquest over). We've corralled this beauty with its two tone paint, tinted glass, bed cover, and some bling on the larger 18 inch wheels and low profile tires...with a Colt 45 and 2 Zig Zags skating' on IROC rims...muy bueno! Exterior Built on July of 1985 in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico this recently repainted in original colors of silver sandwiching maroon on all straight panels, minding their gaps, it puts out a very nice presentation. With a sleek side profile, it is accentuated by the two tone paint, and 18 inch polished chrome IROC wheels with low profile tires. Tinted glass and a recently installed bed cover in black vinyl adds to the mystique. Chrome bumpers are nice on front and rear, and the rears house the inset brake lights. Dual chromed exhaust tips peek out from underneath. Ay caramba! Interior Simplemente lujoso inside with deeply padded door panels in maroon vinyl, plenty of chromed toggles for the power options (windows, mirror, locks) and some trim bars to break it all up. Turning our atencio'n to the seats we are now seeing red! Crushed velour tuck and roll for the inserts and headrests, and smooth red vinyl for the bolsters and center fold down armrest. Nice white script embroidering on the headrests denotes "El Camino". The dash is all original with burl wood appliqu, a rectangular gauge cluster fronted by the original steering wheel. Air conditioning has been converted to R-134, and there is an upgraded stereo with CD player now installed. Also seen within the rear-view mirror is a backup camera with a 3 inch screen. Nice deep red/maroon headliner is above, and equally as nice carpet floods the floors. A shout out to the bedliner which is thick rubber protecting the steel below. Drivetrain The original 305ci V8 sits in a nicely preserved and patina engine bay. It has on top a single 4-barrel carburetor, and a TH350 automatic transmission on the back. Arriba! Arriba! Andale...Andale! Undercarriage Other than a small area of invasive rust which has been painted over, but a hole still remains on the one rear body mount metal. The remainder of the undercarriage remains sound and totally rust free. Independent new coil springs for the front suspension, and 4 link with new coil springs, the fronts with new Monroe shocks. A Cat Back magna flow exhaust is new as well. Power disc brakes on the front, and power drums are on the rear. Drive-Ability A quick starter, and good runner, this combo car/truck provides a smooth ride at cruising speed, handles well, air blows cold, and stereo sounds just fine. It has snappy acceleration and is a quick stopper. Suave. Overall an extremely nice example all buttoned up with new paint, suspension, upgraded sound, all new rubber seals and new R-134 AC, it's a refresh that is ready to roll on this 18 inch rims.
