Description of 1970 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 3500 C-40 |

The Custom Shop at DRIFTERS GARAGE in Escondido CA has over 800 Man Hours Invested in this Build The chassis is from a 1987 bounder motor home The GM 454 motor, GM TH400 transmission and rear differential were discarded The chassis was shortened 12 feet to accommodate the wheelbase for a pickup Chassis was then upgraded for rigidity and strength by welding additional steel supports at various stress points Then the NEWLY created chassis was the totally immersed in an acid solution to remove all corrosion, dirt, grease, paint Etc. Chassis was then powder coated black for preservation of the NEWLY made frame Then all NEW independent front suspension was installed with coil springs and air bag assist inside the coil springsThe rear springs are heavy duty GM factory leaf springsA GM 6.6 Duramax LBZ Diesel motor was installed with a matching GM six speed Allison overdrive transmission A GM 14 bolt rear differential installed, all three pieces from a 2007 Chevrolet 3500HD Silverado pickup All NEW Hydro boost disc brakes, front and rear were installed Next the Cab and front sheet metal from a 1970 Chevrolet C-40 truck were mounted on the NEW frame Then a pickup bed and fenders from a 1967 Chevrolet C 10 pick up modified to fit the frame was installed. Extensive modification and body work were required to make the bed and rear fenders fit properly. A NEW spray in bed liner to match the color of the body was installed The truck has a NEW column shift with a tilt steering wheel, NEW Power steering, NEW cruise control, NEW vintage air conditioning, NEW Dakota digital gauges, all HDX, NEW GPS satellite radio, NEW back up camera, NEW glide seats covered in distressed leather Headlights and tail lights are all NEW LED Truck is surrounded underneath with NEW red and amber LED marking lights NEW ATS exhaust manifolds, up pipes and down pipe for the turbo Maximum horsepower of 410 hp and 925 ft pounds of torque available in performance tune Wheels, front & rear, are NEW 22-inch aluminum Alcoa’s, with 6 NEW TOYO Proxies tires Crimson Paint is a CUSTOM COLOR MIX of urethane PPG Deltron, and a two stage base coat, with many coats of clear on top of the color A “State of the art†Software package has been installed with FIVE (5) different tune levels, economy / towing / performance.
