Description of 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS 409 Convertible

This is a real-deal 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS convertible that has been given a high-performance dual-quad 409 V8 upgrade by one of the best in the business. And while that will already have you excited, this red-on-red restored package even has all the upgrades you want, including a five-speed and ice-cold A/C!
Is there a better way to cruise than in a factory Ember Red classic convertible? Probably only if that car was painstakingly given an expensive full restoration like this one. The frame-off work was done only about a decade ago, and so you see the quality in everything from how straight the panels are to the mirror-like shine of the chrome bumpers. The red loves to radiate in the sunshine, which is exactly what you want on a classic convertible. As a real-deal Super sport, you have some great details, like the machine-turned inserts running the full-length of the car and surrounding the Impala's specific six taillight arrangement. As you dig even deeper, you see great period-correct additions, like the dual aerials, polished Cragar SS wheels, and redline tires that coordinate with the body.
Bucket seats and a center console are exactly what you want to see when you look in this Impala SS. But more than just genuine Super Sport features, the full restoration meant a large investment into making sure that the pleated seats match the door panels. They both coordinate with the red dash, carpets, and period-correct floor mats for a full uniform appearance. But breaking up this sea of crimson is the kind of brightwork that made the '60s an iconic decade. You see it on the insert on the factory wheel and surrounding the extra wide speedometer (yes, you do see a centrally mounted tach, too!) Plus, that engine-tuned dash panel and console insert have that unmistakable SS feel. While this is a well-done classic, the restoration also added subtle improvements. It includes a retro-style radio that now has an input for your modern iPod. The power convertible top allows you to open up to the world with ease, and the ice-cold air conditioning lets you stay that way even in the summertime. Have you counted the gears on the shifter yet?
Under the hood you're going to see a show-ready big block presentation. While people are marveling at the polished components and overall tidy look, you get to tell them this was built by Ken "The Kid" Walsh. Yes, the consignor states that his motor was built by "Mr. 409" himself. And when you get a V8 from a speed master, that means it's going to be a powerful setup. So it has go-fast goodies like hydraulic lifters and dual four-barrel carburetors on top. Since you'll want to take full advantage of this upgraded motor, the transmission was upgraded to a Tremec five-speed unit, too. To make sure driving this legend is as fun and easy as possible, you also have power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and grippy modern tires behind the classic redline look.
Not only does this heart of this Impala SS convertible come from a 409 master, but also the consignor states a former governor of Kansas was the original owner of the car. And even without all these great connections, you know this speedy and upgraded 409 droptop is still the restored classic of your dreams. So don't let it slip away. Call now!
