Description of 1966 Chevrolet Suburban |
Be the ONLY one on your block to drive a ... Very rare '66 Chevy Suburban, 2 door w/ rear barn doors. 3.8 inline 6 cylinder (less than 70k miles on Fred Jones rebuild) w/ Holley/Weber 2bbl (w/ automatic choke) and HEI ignition, 350 automatic w/ shift kit (less than 10k miles). Power drum brakes. Runs great and drives straight. Cranks right up and goes every time. Very dependable, drive it home. Runs 70-80 MPH just fine but cruises at 60-62 MPH. New; Tires, water pump, aluminum radiator, heater core, thermostat, alternator, starter, motor mounts, exhaust, master cylinder/brake booster, brake hoses, wheel cylinders, door and ignition locks/keys, and more. Has interior from '95 GMC Safari. 400w 6 speaker AM/FM/CD/aux stereo sounds great. Cosmetically challenged but runs/drives fine. Has some rust in the usual places; Hood valance, lower rear 1/4s, sills, and door bottoms. Drivers side (back seat) sliding window is missing (1/4" plexiglass window cut and fit into opening, been that way for 20 years). Has some rattles here and there and a pretty crappy paint job. Valve seals leak some (causing a little oil smoke on crank up), but doesn't really burn oil or leak anything. Could use some new shocks. The latches are broken on the vent windows. Door windows roll up/down as they should and all lights work. Speedometer does not work (I just use GPS). The gas gauge works and the heater works. Has good oil pressure and runs cool. Gets around 18 MPG if your foot's not too heavy! Everybody loves this truck and it gets lots of smiles and comments wherever it goes. I bought it from my friends dad who bought it from the auction in Atlanta when it was decommissioned as a telephone company truck. He used it as a plumbers truck until he retired. I've owned it for over 25 years. Other than me driving it to Florida twice (and several camping trips around the SE), it has never been out of the metro Atlanta area. I've had a lot of fun with it, now it's somebody else's turn. I'll be happy to answer any questions that I can. Happy bidding and good luck!
