Title Documentation SELLER REMARKS When is a Chevelle not a Chevelle? When it's a Heavy Chevy. And what. you may ask. what is a Heavy Chevy? It was Chevrolet's way of getting around the insurance companies who placed huge premiums on their performance models. and you'll note that nowhere on this incredible 1972 Heavy Chevy does the word "Chevelle" appear. Cool. right?Of course. Chevrolet wasn't building anything like this spectacular A-body back in 1972. Code 56 Cream Yellow is this Chevy's original color. but I can guarantee it didn't look this good even when it was new. and with two stage urethane paint. it'll look this good for years to come. Fit and finish are excellent all around. so nice that it's easy to forget that it's a factory color. Great gaps and super straight sheetmetal certainly help with that brand spanking new look. and true to form. there's not a Chevelle badge in sight. There are. however. black stripes running along the flanks that offer a cool '70s fade that really looks good. as well as the requisite 'HEAVY CHEVY' emblems on both front fenders. And while the intent was to build a fast car that didn't look fast. this one hides in plain sight with a 4-inch cowl induction hood with hood pins that aren't exactly subtle. The smooth grille bereft of even a Chevrolet bowtie emblem is another nice touch that makes this car stand out in a crowded field. The black interior is archetypal Chevelle. er. Heavy Chevy and looks fantastic. as you'd expect. New seat covers. fresh black carpets. and correct Chevelle-free door panels accentuate the well-appointed interior. which uses the seats and dash from a 1970 SS. But it's not totally stock. with the most notable upgrade being the instrument panel full of Auto Meter Phantom instruments. plus two on the A-pillar just for good measure. There's also a trick Hurst Pro-Matic 2 shifter for the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and a big red switch to arm the nitrous system. which just looks plain cool. There's an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash. but you probably won't need or want it once you hear the sound of the blown big block. which we'll talk about in a moment. but you do get a hint of what's in store from the giant nitrous bottle in the nicely restored trunk. The core of this car. however. remains under that cowl-induction hood. a B&M supercharged 454 cubic inch V8. All the best stuff is here. including a big 850 CFM Demon carburetor up top. a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads. a Weiand 4/17 street blower. and a cam big enough to hear. A lot of polished aluminum and chrome never hurts. and the engine bay is most definitely show-worthy. The burly TH400 3-speed automatic transmission has a Boss9 torque converter and feeds a 12-bolt rear full of 3. 73 gears with a Detroit Locker and Superior axles. Ceramic-coated Hooker headers feed a custom exhaust system with X-pipe and 2-chamber Flowmasters. so the soundtrack is radical where the look is more subtle. Shiny. clean floors. lots of new components. and just the right stance makes this one of the nastiest A-bodies we've seen. Lovely Coys wheels look a lot like vintage Torque Thrusts and measure 18 inches up front and 20 inches in back. As a one-owner car. this impressive car includes all the original take-off parts. including the numbers-matching original big block engine and A/C components. Not to mention the original owners manual. warranty card. and dealer invoice! Hugely fast and beautifully finished. this Heavy Chevy might just make you forget the word "Chevelle.
