Description of 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

HEADLINE - 69 Chevelle SS 396 with fuel injection, overdrive and A/C, freshly restored.

For sale is a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 hardtop. This car was purchased by me from another father and son team that began restoring the car about 14 years ago and never finished. I bought the car already painted, but otherwise in boxes. It had been untouched since 2006 until I took over the project this past fall. The father had invested over $38,000 in parts, labor and paint at that point, but had essentially lost interest in finishing the project once the son graduated and moved out.
So, this is a real SS car, that originally came with a 396. The engine in the car is the correct year, but it not original to the body. The engine is completely rebuilt by a local machine shop. It has all new internals. The engine was bored .030" and the pistons replaced new. The crankshaft was cut .020" on the mains and rods and all bearings are new. It has a new replacement cam and hydraulic lifters with a grind suitable for street driving. It has roller, adjustable rockers and new pushrods. New high volume oil pump and pickup. New double row timing chain and sprockets. New aluminum intake manifold. New HEI distributor complete and new plug wires. All new front accessory drive brackets. New alternator. New power steering pump.
The engine is equipped with a brand new Holley Sniper fuel injection setup with complete new lines, high pressure fuel pump and correct filters.
The car is now equipped with a Vintage Air Sure Fit air conditioning system.
The car has been upgraded to front disc brakes. All brakes, front and rear are brand new, including hoses lines, springs, wheel cylinders - all of it.
All front suspension is new - all of it.
The rear end now has a 3.50 rear positrac gear set from Speedway Automotive.
The transmission is a freshly remanufactured 700R4 overdrive unit with a brand new torque converter and TV cable.
The body, paint and interior was done back in 2004, but the car was never assembled and everything was stored in a residential 2 car garage until I picked it all up. I, personally, did not like the work that was performed on the rear quarter panels, so we replaced both outer quarter panels and outer wheel housings to make the car right. I painted the quarter panels to math the rest of the car.
The vinyl top and all exterior chrome trim, moldings and emblems are all new.
The interior upholstery is all newly recovered. The dashboard cluster is all new, the dash board pad is new, the door panels are new, the headliner is new.
The hood appears to be a replacement SS style hood. Both doors appear original to the car and both fenders, with the bottoms having been repairs where they normally get a rust hole.
The bottom of the car is painted gloss black, not undercoated and it looks very good.
The prior owner did not plan to have a console, so I purchased a brand new one from Classic Industries with the correct shifter for the overdrive transmission.
The car has a brand new complete wiring harness from Painless in it and everything works.
The car has a heavy duty aluminum radiator and Weiand aluminum water pump.

Basically, pretty much everything has been replaced new, rebuilt, refinished or upgraded. The car runs, drive and is currently licensed and being driven as weather allows.
Really, the car is simply a great cruiser. I've only had a chance to drive it about 150 miles so far, so the fuel injection system is still self-learning.
