Description of 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS |
Body off frame, rotisserie restored. This is one of the best Camaros we've had. The fit and finish is excellent in and out. The car functions just as well. I personally used it and I could not find a thing wrong, every thing worked. Really- from the way the door shuts, to the steering, gauges, ride etc. I was very impressed. From a very fussy collector, it was a magazine car with a 4 page spread. EXTERIOR: The builder searched years for a Camaro with a clean body. He found this gem and was thrilled. California built. It had been parked indoors, unused from 1986 til 2000 in Kansas. The entire car was stripped to a bare shell and all parts were bagged and labeled. In 2001 the metal was media blasted bare. It was then put on a rotisserie. It was prepped and painted by an expert then painstakingly reassembled. Repainted its factory color, Daytona yellow. DuPont Chromabase urethane was used and it is polished like yellow chrome. No ugly vinyl top. Also decked out with spoilers, exterior trim package and hockey stick stripes. All of the chrome and trim has been replaced. Stainless around the windows is polished, new correct antenna. The front and rear glass is new. Jambs are detailed. Weatherstrips and window seals were replaced. Has a new set of Torque Thrust wheels on BFG tires. INTERIOR: Factory deluxe interior. Original molded door panels in great shape (pass side has cracked piece at the edge). New PUI comfort weave upholstery. Headliner is new and tight as a drum. Visors and mirror are new. Has all the GM seat belts in excellent condition. The center console is new, has Autometer gauge cluster with tachometer and clock. Also has an aftermarket armrest with cup holders. Dash area is mint- the lenses, heater controls, dash pad etc. Has working factory Am-Fm. Glovebox liner is new, has pouch with owner's manual. Ashtray and correct lighter are new. Deluxe wheel is on a tilt column. Dome light, console light and glovebox light works. Actually I tried everything, it all works. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Show quality, everything looks new. The motor is a 350 bored and stroked to 365 with 425 hp. Has Speed Pro forged 10:1 pistons, moly rings, Comp Extreme cam. #186 double hump heads were street ported and got bigger stainless valves. Has a stock GM aluminum high rise intake with dual feed blueprinted 750 Holley carb. Has Pro Billet distributor and MSD ignition. A set of Jet Hot coated headers let the motor exhale. Dressed up with polished, finned valve covers. All the brackets, pulleys, bolts are excellent. Has correct GM stamped hoses and reproduction clamps, radiator and shroud look new. Has spring clamp battery cables and Delco battery topper. Power brake booster is polished, master looks new, lines are stainless. Power steering looks new including hoses and steering box. All the components are excellent- alternator, wiper motor, fuel pump etc. All the painted surfaces are smooth and tidy. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Super dry, clean metal with black and aqua spatter finish paint neatly sprayed. It has a vintage Goodyear tire and a painted rim for a spare. The jack assembly is restored and mounted properly. Bottom of the trunk lid and the jamb are painted slick. It's detailed out with new latches, weatherstrip, decals and wiring harness. UNDERSIDE: There is a picture of the bottom of this car on a rotisserie stripped bare, it is perfectly clean rust free metal. Now the bottom of the car is detailed like new. Chassis and floors are satin black. Front end suspension and steering is completely rebuilt and detailed. Bottom of the motor is spotless. Has high torque starter. Aluminized 2 1/2 inch exhaust with crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. Rebuilt Turbo 350 with external cooler and TCI 3,000 stall converter. Restored driveshaft, replaced u-joints with safety loop. Has 12 bolt rear end with 3.31 posi and Moser unbreakable axles. Brake system was completely restored, has disc in front. New lines, hoses, e-brake assembly etc. Rear suspension is rebuilt and detailed. Fuel system was replaced- tank, straps, sending unit, lines etc. When I bought this car the seller talked it up so much. I'll be honest, it made me want to find something wrong, I couldn't! I took it home, drove it most of the following day and I was very impressed. There are many beautiful cars, few function as well as this one. The next owner will be very satisfied. I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
