Description of 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

With Corvettes, the most highly prized specimens share a few things in common: correct engines with plenty of pop, quick-shifting manual transmissions, tops that go down, and great color combinations are all important and desirable. This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible fits all that criteria, and is such a great looker and wonderful driver that we're seriously considering keeping it for ourselves.
Finished to a very high standard in its original color combination, the gorgeous code UU Rally Red, this Corvette roadster is one of those rare cars that can be driven and enjoyed, or shown enough to fill a trophy case, all while it appreciates as an investment. And now that Corvettes are fully entrenched as grade-A collectables, fully restored, dialed-in vintage cars like this are going to be as safe as money in the bank. The fiberglass body is laser straight, with crisp body lines and doors that close with that unique Corvette sound. Two-stage urethane paint replicates the original hue, a vivid red that shines up well, so it plays quite well on the C2's dramatic shape. It's not quite perfect, because nothing in this world really is, but the imperfections on this 'Lil Red Corvette are so few that any decent buff-and-wax will catapult it straight up the ranks of most show vehicles. They didn't take any liberties with the car, either, so it wears a correct hood, correct badges, brightly chromed bumpers fore and aft, and those killer side pipes that let everyone know this isn't just some ornamental parade car.
The black interior was restored at the same time as the rest of the car, and while the trim tag says STD, it's anything but ordinary. The black leather seat covers are in great shape with only very minor signs of uses and these seats are some of the most inviting buckets we've seen in a long time-they're just begging you to slide behind the wheel, aren't they? The gauges appear to have been beautifully rebuilt, and the markings are so crisp that we're left wondering if they even looked that good when they were new. Black carpets and center console add to the factory-fresh feeling, and the door panels are wonderfully done. The radio is a rare AM/FM unit with that unique vertical orientation, and there's a woodgrained steering wheel as well that feels exquisite in the driver's hands. A bright white vinyl convertible top was installed at the same time and still excellent, although you'll probably never see it again after you get this car home. The only deviation from stock is the kicking stereo behind the seats and an upgraded R134a A/C system that features a modern Sanden compressor, which blows ice cold air throughout the tidy cabin. On a car that looks as good as this, the interior is certainly a highlight.
A period-correct drivetrain is critical on an investment-grade Corvette, and the beautifully restored L75 327/300 under the hood is is this car's original engine. Rebuilt to stock specs (sans a mild Engle hydraulic cam) and fully detailed for show, it's ready to hit the road. Correct Chevy Orange paint covers all the engine surfaces, and they did it right by painting the engine after it was assembled so it looks like it did on the showroom floor. A chrome air cleaner lid, beautiful orange valve covers, and a big aluminum radiator all add some under-hood sparkle, but there's no denying the appeal is in how it well runs. Gold ram's horn exhaust manifolds lead to that kickin' side exhaust system that sounds fantastic and the rest of the chassis is in terrific order, detailed and ready to be shown off with pride. Up close you'll see newer suspension components throughout, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes, along with a Muncie M21 wide-ratio 4-speed transmission, so it drives even better than it looks. Pretty turbine knock-offs look awesome on any C2 Corvette and they wear 205/75/15 American Classics whitewall radials for a correct look.
Still modestly priced when considering what it cost to bring it to this level, this 1965 red roadster is a car you can show with pride, drive with a big grin on your face, and will always be worth at least what you've spent on it. Call today!
