Description of 1952 Chevrolet Other Convertible |
If you like the simple, clean look of the pre-Tri-5 Chevrolets but need a little more go-power than the old Stovebolt six could provide, well, perhaps this 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible is the solution. A killer build that combines the smooth curves of the early '50s with strong 350 V8 power that makes a big difference in how the car drives, this Styleline Deluxe is a lot of high-end fun. The '50s were a time of pretty radical changes at GM, but if you're a traditionalist who likes a classic car that looks the part, the '50s GM cars definitely hold great appeal, especially the convertibles. 'Resale' red was as popular of a color in 1952 as it is today, so it shouldn't be a surprise that it works so well in this car's case. This dialed-in build was completed not long ago, so there's zero evidence of age in the finish, and only very minor imperfections, offering a brilliant shine and a depth that will make show-goers stop and admire all the hours it must have required to achieve. And those imperfections of which I speak could probably be neutralized with a professional buff. Fit and finish are extremely good, with doors that align right and a hood that sits flush, and the bodywork underneath is in great condition too. Shaved, smoothed, and set low on a custom suspension, this droptop has such a dynamic look that we've been cleaning up drool spots all around it ever since it entered our building. Best of all, they left just enough chrome on the car to make it really pop, including new bumpers and an imposing grille that are in fantastic shape and give it a clean look without erasing the car's original identity. Cool louvered LED taillights bring a high-tech look to an old favorite, and the black convertible top and the boot that protects it provides nice contrast to the striking red finish. The completely restored interior has been renovated but it doesn't stray too far from the original look, and it's all so fresh you'll think twice before getting in with dirty shoes. The bench seat is a very comfortable unit wrapped in upscale tan and black ultraleather upholstery, for a traditional yet modern look. New black carpets, matching custom door panels, and a beautifully trimmed rear seating area make the interior a great place to spend your time. The black-faced BeeDee gauges are simply stunning, beautifully installed inside a factory-style bezel just ahead of the driver, and the rest of the dash is pure 1952 with plenty of bright chrome and original knobs and switches, all set inside a shiny black backdrop. Too cool! The tilt steering column is topped by a wood-rimmed Grant GT steering wheel that looks just right inside this droptop. An aftermarket under-dash heat unit is a clever way to add comfort without hacking up the original dash, as are the controls for the adjustable suspension to their right, and a Boss Double DIN head unit that features Bluetooth and navigation and manages the Infinity sound system inside the cabin has been neatly stashed inside the glove compartment. The back seat is comfortable for two, maybe three passengers, and the trunk still has decent room, even with the generator and air canister for the suspension's air bags. A modern 350 cubic inch V8 powers this slick droptop, and we think that it's an excellent choice. It's equipped with a polished Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and Edelbrock 4-barrel carb sitting underneath an Edelbrock air cleaner on top, as well as a pair of matching valve covers on its sides. Elsewhere in the engine compartment, an upgraded HEI distributor maximizes spark and a nicely sized aluminum radiator helps keep temperatures in check. The powerplant teams with a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and spins a GM 55P rear end out back. You'll notice the benefits of the featured Mustang II front end right away - it not only provides a nice ride in everyday driving conditions, but also equips this coupe with smooth rack and pinion steering, as well as power front disc brakes for fade resistant stops. That killer stance you see is fully adjustable thanks to air bags up front that manage the tubular upper and lower control arms, and the block-hugging headers around the engine feed a custom dual exhaust with chambered mufflers that sounds great. This vintage Chevy provides a great driving experience as it rolls on a set of 15" powder-coated red steelies adorned with 'Dog Dish' hubcaps and beauty rings that are all wrapped in beautiful 185/70/15 front and 195/75/15 rear Coker American Classic whitewall tires. This 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe Convertible is equal parts eye-catching vintage cruiser and more-than-capable street machine and would be a great acquisition for the classic enthusiast looking to add a truly compelling ride to their garage.
