Description of 1966 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

1966 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

Although pickups came of age after World War II, they continued to evoke a postwar sensibility until Chevy introduced a groundbreaking generation of trucks in 1960. Not only were these C/K pickups - a designation that is still in unofficial use - equipped with the segment's first independent front suspension, but also a new drop-center X-shaped frame that reduced the height of the vehicle by up to seven inches. The lower stance was emphasized by an attractive, pinched-waist body marred only by a fussy front end featuring "jet pod" eyebrows over the grille. Over time, the hoodline was lowered and the front fascia simplified, and by the end of the model run in 1966, the pickup was an exemplar of restrained elegance.

For consignment a restored and pumped up 1966 Chevrolet C10 pickup. A newer engine with a consigner stated 50 miles clocked on it since 2015, and bathed in a beautiful yellow, custom dash and snappy interior, along with a beautiful bed, this is truly a ripe for the picking fruit here at the Classic Auto Mall when it comes to the pickup trucks we have in house.

Exterior
For 1966 the Jet Pod eyebrows are now gone, and the hood now is simplified yet still upstanding with turn signals, and dual intake vents. Just below is the original restored to perfection single headlight chromed egg crate grille bordered below by a shiny mirror like bumper. Moving back, we note all straight steel for the body and bed panels, this year double lined on the bed. Gaps are well minded, chrome trimmings are nicely redone, and the window trimmings have been nicely blackened which contrast to the yellow. Underneath a black vinyl covering the bed secretly and surprisingly hides a lacquered oak bed with bodily matching yellow mounting strips. This also houses the battery underneath the vinyl. The rear of this truck has taken on some fab fab(rication) with some shaving of the rear bumper then an insertion of what appear to be Corvette taillights and it was a great idea, as it really pulls itself off well, and adds a modern twist. Nice 15 inch American Racing Wheels are all around and certainly add some curb"apeel"(Sic)

Interior
A swing of the double hulled door reveals a black vinyl panel which houses the cranks and door handle and is surrounded one the tops and bottoms by more yellow. Dual black vinyl buckets which have a great patina with some folds and slight wear stretches from door to door. In the center there is a jumbo seat that doubles as a fold down armrest when not in use. A custom dash with body matching yellow and a central instrument cluster within a circular pattern machined aluminum panel houses the white faced chromed beveled gauges. Moving down the line we see billet style machined knobs and pulls, original heater and temp levers, and an aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio. Black carpet floods the floors and is fairly clean and protected by Tweety Bird rubber floor mats. Above is a really suave tuck and roll yellow inserted and black surrounded vinyl headliner which really makes the interior sing. Tra La La, Tra La La La La...(trivia?)

Drivetrain
Underneath the hood within the engine bay is a screaming yellow zonker which takes on the form of a 350ci V8 circa 1969-1979. A single 4-barrel Holley carb is atop, and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. All this gleams in its chromed glory from the air cleaner housing to the valve covers and looks great surrounded by the yellow. On the sides we note headers, which melt into a glasspack style exhaust which makes its way rearward.

Undercarriage
Well done underneath with a sturdy X frame, clean black fiberglass floor pans, and good running boards for the step sides above. In front we see independent coil spring suspension, and on the rear is trailing arm and coil sprung suspension. Drum brakes are all around, and all is buttoned up below finalized by a 12-bolt rear axle.

Drive-Ability
A super quick starter, and nice runner, for a pickup it loved our test track almost as much as I loved driving it. Very comfy ride, nice sound, good handling, and snappy acceleration. Also, a quick stopper with those drum brakes.

Get that monkey off your back and get down to the hallowed halls of the Classic Auto Mall and feast your eyes on this nothing near mellow yellow example from 1966. Do it quickly as these well-done pickups tend to slip out of here fast. A head turner that is definitely as described "Top Banana" in the pickup front inventory.
