Description of 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible |
This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible has a nice color combo, four-on-the-floor, and an overall cool vintage attitude that's ideal for the first year of the legendary Sting Ray. We love a Corvette in Ermine White. After all, all the first-year cars were finished in that, so it's only fitting that the first of the C2 generation wears it, too. It's an upgrade later in life, but it carries a condition and single-stage application that some people will assume is original (we won't tell the truth if you won't.) These early C2s have the right amount of brightwork on the hood inserts, ribbed rocker panels, and the hallmark two-piece bumpers front and rear. It's a great stock look, right down to the factory wheel covers. The newer black vinyl roof give this a timeless color combo when it's in place, but for true distinction, you really want to be open to the world. The dark blue looks nice, and the full color combo has a European level of sophistication against the exterior white. It's a highly original style look, right down to the dual-cowl dash, bucket seats, and even the AM radio is still on display. Plus, the wood-rimmed steering wheel, full gauge package, and crisp shifter all remind you that the Sting Ray was built with true drivers in mind. The engine is correct-looking small-block V8. Just like the rest of this car, it gets the vintage details right with the bold orange block, 327 callouts on the valve covers, and a hint of flair on the air topper and distributor shield. The V8 fires up nicely as the Carter four-barrel carburetor inhales deeply. The four-speed manual is the kind of feature we love in these C2s, because it offers good all-around control for power takeoffs and comfort. And control is the central theme to the Sting Ray thanks to the fully independent sports suspension. 1963 Corvettes are still highly sought for their first-year appeal, so it's great to find a droptop that has all the right features and a price that gives it a ton of potential.
